Mr. Aniekan Umanah |
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah said the publication is another way of aggregating and galvanising government activities and programmes into broadsheet and a replacement to the old A4 bulletin to run in electronic format.
Umanah hinted that the publication would have between 2000 and 3000 subscribers to follow the activities of the state government on a weekly basis and enjoined the reading public to take advantage of the stable.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Oliver Udoukpo welcoming the publication noted that it is incumbent on the ministry to inform and sensitise the public on the activities and programmes of government ministries and agencies.
Udoukpo described the publication as a tool in bridging a two-way communication, and pledged to sustain the publication as a way of informing and educating the public on what government is doing to douse the tension of rumour mongering.
He, therefore, advised members of the public to grab copies of the publication to be properly informed about government activities and programmes and to contribute their views and opinions to the success of the publication.
The editor of the publication, Mr. Israel Umoh who is also a Senior staff of the Ministry, lauded the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of the ministry for approving the publication and called on Information Officers to embark on aggressive news hunt to correct misrepresentations and misinformation about the government.
