INI crises: Itu Mbonuso TRC hails Govt’s decision on centres closure, endorses sanction for resolution felons

Based on the resolution of the Transition Committee, Ini Local Government Council closing down multiple celebration centres in Itu Mbonuso Clan which was constantly characterized by violence during official functions, the Traditional Rulers in the Clan has applauded the decision describing the move as a welcome development. In a letter of commendation to the Ini Local Government Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Etetim Anwatim signed by the Paramount Ruler of IniLocal Government Area, HRM Ntoeng Udo Effiong Akpan; Secretary, Itu Mbonuso TRC, Chief Akpan Dickson; Leader of Ini LGA, Obong Otu Robert Akpan and all the Village Heads in the Clan and made available to newsmen, the royal fathers pressed on government to “deal decisively with any person or persons who would want to go contrary to the decision of the council on the said matter.”

The Traditional Rulers who particularly made reference to “eruption of violence during the Children’s Day celebration on May 27, 2015 and other similar acts that happened before that day which many people sustained injuries including a Policeman”, emphasized that security and the protection of children in particular and the citizens of Itu Mbonuso in general must be accorded top priority over the selfish desire of individuals.
The Royal Fathers thanked the Akwa Ibom State Police Command and other Security Agencies for their support and collaboration with the traditional institution in curbing criminality in the area.
The resolution reads in part, “…After thorough deliberations on the issue of Itu Mbonuso centres and other issues, commend His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for his wonderful programmes and projects especially the industrialization policy of his administration in the state…In line with the launching of Dakkada initiative by the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, we the leaders and the good people of Itu Mbonuso have risen to chat a new course for our children, for generation unborn.
“We strongly support the decision of the council for the closure of Itu Mbonuso centres for security reasons. Government should deal decisively with any person or persons who would want to go contrary to the decision of the council on the said matter. That we believe in Child Rights Law, the happiness and welfare of our children should take priority over the desire of any individual. Security and the protection of our children and the entire citizens of Itu Mbonuso should also take priority over the selfish desire of person or persons.”
Other signatories to the resolution include; Village Head, Ikot Nta Chief George Akpan Ukpai; Community Leader, Itu Mbonuso, Chief P. S. Afaha; Village Head, Ikot Essien, Chief Udo Oyuoho Inwang; Village Head, Ebo, Chief Effiong Otu Bassey; Village Head, Ikporom, Chief Stephen Akpabio Udo; Village Head, Mkpu, Chief Joshua Iseh; Village Head, Ikot Enim, Chief Emmanuel Peter; Ogu Leader, Chief F. U. Mkpa; Ananamong, Chief Akpan Paul Ise.
While Hon. Iberedem Offor, Mr. Essien Isong Effiong, Mr. Ime Isong Effiong, Mr. Friday Ebo, Mr. Andrew Sunday and Mr. Etim Mba signed on behalf of the youths.
