Abak celebrates 55th Independence in grand style

Activities marking the 55th Independence Celebration in Abak Local government area were rounded off yesterday, 1st October, 2015 with a march pass by school children, uniform organizations and cultural displays at Abak Township Stadium. The Transition Committee Chairman for the area, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen who read the President’s address and also took the salute, noted that Akwa Ibom State has been blessed with good leaders especially in the past nine years.

Dr. Udosen commended the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for his outstanding performance in the past 100 days, stressing that Abak is blessed to have two industries within the first 100 days of Udom Emmanuel’s administration.
He saluted the contributions of the past heroes who worked tirelessly for the development of Abak.  A minute silence was observed in their honour.
Dr. Udosen expressed gratitude to God for the clement weather and thanked the people of Abak for coming out in large number to grace the occasion, stressing that it was a clear testimony to the fact that the people of Abak appreciate the “Dakkada Initiative” of Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s administration.
The Transition Committee Chairman called on the people of Abak to rise up in the spirit of “Dakkada” and engage themselves in positive ventures and also support the Governor’s vision of industrialization.
He congratulated the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, his Deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo and the good people of Akwa Ibom on the 28th anniversary of the state creation.
Dr. Udosen noted that the people of Abak stand a better chance to benefit from the Udom Emmanuel’s administration, as according to him, when the two facilities which the Governor performed the Ground-breaking ceremony, the AIT/Ray Power Station at Midim Water-Side Village and the Greenwell Technologies Fertilizer Industry at Oku Abak become operational, job opportunities would be created.
The Transition Committee Chairman advised the people of Abak to continue to support and pray for Governor Udom Emmanuel and his administration to succeed. “I want to call on the good people of Abak to “dakkada and become financial independent, dakkada and become employers of labour because we in the Transition Committee have already risen up”, Dr. Udosen stated.  
And in the spirit of “Dakkada”, the Transition Committee Chairman has promised to empower the widows of the area very soon.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the demonstration by two pupils of Bishop Clerks Central School, Abak Town, winners of the “Dakkada Recitation for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, who thrilled the crowd with their brilliant performance.
Beaming with enthusiasm, Dr. Udosen announced cash reward to them and promised to meet with his Committee Members and other Stakeholders to fashion out way of offering them scholarship courtesy of Abak local government council.
At the end of the march-pass, Tower of Ivory Schools, Ediene came first in the Nursery category, Seed of Heavens School finished second while the third position went to Royal Kids Academy.
In the Primary school category, Bishop Clerks Central School, Abak Town came first followed by Annang Peoples School, Ibagwa while Government School, Ediene came third.
In the Secondary category, Queen of Apostles Seminary, Afaha Obong took the first position followed by Holy Family College, Oku Abak while the third position went to Comprehensive Secondary School, Midim.
Certificates and cash prizes were presented to the winning schools.
