The ship of Udom’s governance is on course, says Anietie Etuk * Tax Rebirth not a wicked policy for civil servants

The special Adviser to the Akwa Ibom State Government on political and Legislative Affairs, Rt. Hon Anietie Etuk has described the leadership style of Udom Emmanuel as commendable and steadily on course.

The Governor’s political adviser stated this during a media chat with a section of media chiefs in his office in Uyo. The former speaker hinted that the story in a section of the media which alleged that Governor Udom Emmanuel was booed in Oron during the funeral obsequies of Ata Oro is only a figment of the imagination of those that perpetrated such information.

Etuk said,” I was there with the Governor, the Oron people and or those who attended the funeral obsequies did not boo the Governor. In fact, they appreciated the Governor as he was making his speech. Nobody booed the Governor.”
Speaking further, Anietie Etuk explained the rationale behind the tax Rebirth of the State Government on Akwa Ibom workers. He explained that the taxation policy is not to victimize the workers but rather it is aimed at everything good for civil servants. He added that it is an error for the people to believe that the taxation will impoverish the people more.

On why the Government of the day is yet to make public the handover notes of the previous administration, the SA added that there is nothing clandestine in it. He said it is the intention of government to, at the right time make the document available for public consumption. He noted that such documents are not personal documents but are articles that are meant for the public to digest. He also spoke on the alleged Hilltop mansion currently being built by the Governor at Awa Iman. In his words, ‘’those are personal issues and it is funny that attention has been shifted to the Governor for renovating his personal and private residence.’’

Mr. Anietie Etuk while taking time to explain to the press the need for a closer synergy with Government called on media Executives to at all time always cross check their facts and figures before going to press.

The Nsit Ibom born politician expressed confidence that with the manner the state Government is going about development in the state that very soon, the state will be transformed into an industrial hub that will attract more and more investors and visitors to the state.

He appealed to the media to see the Udom Emmanuel administration as being people-friendly and work towards ensuring that they propagate the gospel of the exploits of Government. When asked on whether he will recommend a second term for the Governor, he said, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. He said, Udom’s second term will not be negotiable.
