“Blood moon” Cleric calls on Christians to shun astrological teachings

“Blood moon” Cleric calls on Christians to shun astrological teachings

Against the backdrop of reactions and interpretations that trailed the recent total Lunar Eclipse of September 28, 2015 in which the moon took the colour of blood, a renowned man of God, Rev. John Uzoma has called on Christians to shun astrological teachings and beliefs.

Venerably John Uzoma, Archdeacon of Eket and Vicar of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church condemned in strong terms the insinuation in some quarters that the celestial event is a sign of the end of the world.
Rev. Uzoma averred that though the Bible book of Matthew 24:29-31 foretold of celestial happenings before the end time, it was biblically wrong to predict when the end will come “because even Jesus Christ himself told mankind that only his father (God) knows the day (end time)”

He blamed astrologers for twisting the truth about the creatures of God, turning people to the worship of sun, moon and the stars. “When God created the sun, moon and stars, they were to act as signs to Him and man’s duty was to adore and appreciate the wonders of God’s creation through constant worship and praise of Him but unfortunately man has distorted his vision of God and is now living in a state of inequity everywhere”, Uzoma said.

He said further, that the recent appearance of the blood moon has again brought to the fore the ignorance of man in keeping with the rhythm of the will of God in creation, adding that Christians are today so engrossed with mundane matters to the detriment of the true gospel and incisive knowledge.

“We have to live with eternity in view and praise God at all times because that is our goal in life”, he admonished.

Generic thinking, Uzoma said, is as a result of Christ illiteracy, stressing on the need for Christians to dig deep into the scriptures as a signage to attain eternity, he call on believers to have the understanding of the times as proclaimed by the word of God.
