Barely five months after leaving office as Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill  Obot Akpabio has continued to receive plaudits for his outstanding performance while in office. The recent encomiums on the Senate Minority Leader came from former Governor of Ekiti State and Ministerial nominee, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

While being screened on the floor of the hallowed chamber, Fayemi noted that he was inspired to build a befitting Government House in Ekiti State when he was the Governor after paying a visit to Akwa Ibom State.
He explained that he was challenged after seeing what Akpabio built for Akwa Ibom State.  Fayemi, who was answering questions on the huge amount he expended in building a new Government House in Ekiti State, added that the Government House he met was a two-bedroom apartment that was not even enough to accommodate his cabinet or hold meetings.

Fayemi stated in uncertain terms that the Government House in Uyo stimulated his desire to replicate same in Ekiti State even though they are not an oil producing state.

He cleared the air on allegations that he bought a N50m bed and challenged those accusing him to produce a receipt that shows that he bought a bed for such amount.

Meanwhile, Senator Godswill Akpabio’s victory in the March 28 Senatorial election has been upheld by the Tribunal sitting in Abuja. The case brought against the Minority Leader by APC’s Inibehe Okori was dismissed for lacking merit.
