Governor Akpabio bags Newswatch person of the year award
The State Governor Chief Godswill Akpabio has added another feather to his cap, with his investiture as the 2014 Newswatch Person of the Year. Governor Godswill Akpabio bagged the award recently at Abuja, during the maiden edition of Newswatch Person of the Year celebrations, held at the prestigious Nicon Luxury hotel, Abuja.

 Receiving the award, Governor Akpabio, expressed gratitude to the Board and Management of Newswatch Communications Limited, for appreciating good governance, adding that, the public presentation of   Person of the Year award to him was a clear testimony that, Newswatch Communication recognizes excellence as evidenced in the stupendous achievements of the Akpabio administration.
The Governor who was represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Akwa Ibom State Liaison Office, Abuja, reiterated that, the award is not only a pride to the Government and the good people of Akwa Ibom State, but also a booster to encourage him for greater service to God and humanity.

He then dedicated the Newswatch Person of the Year Award firstly to God Almighty, the source of his life and inspiration and to the good people of the State for their love, dedication and support, which contributed immensely to the success of the Akpabio administration.

Presenting the award to the Governor, the Managing Director/CEO of Newswatch Communications Limited, Dr. Bolu John Folayan said, Governor Godswill Akpabio was adjudged the best Governor of the Year in infrastructure development, following a nationwide poll on the most outstanding person of the year 2014, in   performance. 

According to Dr. Folayan, some of the areas mapped out for assessment of the Best Governor of the year, included infrastructural development, health care delivery, investment and high revenue profile, personal integrity and contributions to economic development and growth among others.
