Labour Leader reacts to elections shift
...Calls for support to Jonathan, Udom Emmanuel  

The State Chairman, Association of Senior  Civil Servants of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State branch, Elder (Comrade) Joseph Ita, has called on residents in the State to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) and vote credible PDP aspirants in the next month’s general elections.
Elder Ita, made the call while reacting to the recent postponement of general elections date from February 14 and 28 to March 28 and April 11 this year, by the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega. 

Comrade Ita, a native of Ibiaku Uruan, Uruan LGA, was of the opinion that the shift became necessary because of the security situation in the country, especially in the North Eastern part of the country. 
The graduate of Mechanical Production said he believed the new military co-operation agreed two weeks ago between Nigeria and its neighbours; Cameroon, Chad and Niger, will prove decisive against Boko Haram. 

He commended the President Goodluck Jonathan Administration for its determination to end terrorism in the country as evidenced in the recent successes recorded in the war against insurgency and sued for calm and understanding from Nigerians. 

The Elder of the Mount Zion Christ Church, while pointing out that election was not war but an opportunity to elect the right people for state and national development, called on the electorate to vote all PDP aspirants in the forthcoming elections. 

On the PDP Governorship candidate, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the Labour Union leader noted that with experience on the boards of Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Nigerian Interbanks Settlement System (NIBSS), Zenith Bank UK and Zenith Pension & Custodian, he sees in Udom, one who will tap into and utilise the people’s strong-minded spirit of enterprise, industry, commerce, and community. 

He also emphasized that with Udom Emmanuel as Governor of the State from May 29, he will partner with local government boss’ toward ensuring that premium is placed on welfare of Civil servants in the State as well as industrializing Akwa Ibom. 

The Assistant Director who is also Zonal Chairman, South South, Association of Senior Civil Servants in Nigeria, used the occasion to call on the youths not to be used as agents of destructions before, during and after the elections. 

Comrade Joseph Ita said, “I have been passing the message to the youths never to be used as instruments of war. There is no budget for thugs in the agenda of PDP and I am sure they don’t have anything for them in that direction. So, I’m telling the youths to be orderly before, during and after the elections”.
