People-oriented projects, empowerment will feature in my tenure ...Oron PDP House of Assembly candidate
The Peoples Democratic  Party flag bearer for  Oron/Udung-Uko State Constituency in the next polls, Hon. Efiong Okon Bassey has stressed that people oriented projects, such as fishing industry in Oron and regular empowerment of youth and women groups will form the main thrust of his excellent representation after his swearing-in.

Similarly, Hon Bassey (popularly known as Attih) vowed to sponsor a bill in the floor of Akwa Ibom State Legislature to compel relevant security agencies to stop the menace of sea pirates in Oron territorial waters.

Attih who was speaking with journalists at his constituency office in Oron disclosed that the establishment of an ultra-modern fishing industry that would take care of canning, preservation and even exportation of the abundant sea foods like fish, crayfish, shrimps etc. industry would not only reduce unemployment, but raise the income base, economic and social life of the people.

Hon Efiong who was a one-time vice Chairman and later Transition Chairman of Oron Local government council also promised to do all within the purviews of his legislative functions to ensure that students’ bursary payment takes the front burner in the scheme of priorities.

Besides, the House of Assembly hopeful for Oron/Udung-Uko State Constituency expressed enthusiasm that his blue print on youth matters will deal decisively with the disturbing problem of youth unemployment, adding that regular orientation, seminars and provision of empowerment packages would be intensified in that direction.

On women groups, Hon Efiong Okon Bassey hinted that already, his campaign directorate has properly identified and documented the modus operandi in assisting enterprising women in the area with grants to facilitate the expansion of their businesses, even as those who have the desire to open entrepreneurial trades and acquisition of skills in sewing, hair-dressing, ICT and Computer training among others would be given non-refundable financial aid to accomplish their desire.

Hon Bassey, a petroleum business mogul in Oron also observed with dismay the near neglect of party elders in business of democratic governance, and emphasized that immediately after his swearing-in, PDP elders and leaders of thought as well as community and opinion leaders would be strategically positioned for regular consultation particularly in terms of citing of constituency projects in both Oron and Udung-Uko local governments.

While hinting that every segment of his constituency would regularly be briefed on what he termed ‘the state of the constituency’, the Oron/Udung-Uko State Constituency House of Assembly hopeful, Attih observed that lack of constant touch with the constituents could spell doom and albatross to effective representation.

Reeling out more of his blue print and manifesto, Hon Efiong Okon Bassey who is reputed to be a very humane, philanthropic, transparent, accommodating and charismatic leader in Oron has come to terms with, vowed to repair a good number of schools from their dilapidating states both in Udung-Uko and Oron within the first twelve months of his tenure adding that tenable scholarships will be scouted for from both government and multi-national agencies for onward spread to deserved students of institutions of higher learning.

In an answer to a journalist’s question, Hon Bassey lamented that the same self-styled political juggernauts who short-changed Oro in PDP are still the same persons who now turn round to lure Oro into opposition, and expressed enthusiasm that the electorate in Oron Nation is now wise enough to reject their entries this time around.

While scoring Gov. Akpabio very high, Hon. Attih affirmed that his ongoing consultations with a cross section of those now relevant in the process of taking Oro to the next level under Mr Udom Emmanuel, Chief Nelson Efiong, Elder Nse Ekpenyong and his humble self, expressed optimism that the awareness created among the people will ensure undiluted total victory for PDP in the next month’s polls.
