Deacon Emmanuel Ndem has drummed up support for the aspiration of Bishop Samuel Akpan who is seeking to succeed Chief Godswill Akpabio as governor on the platform of Accord Part (AP). Deac. Emmanuell who is the also the Chapter youth leader of Salvation Youths, Uyo noted that Bishop Samuel Akpan has all the ingredients to massively transform the state in all sectors, adding that the administration of Bishop Akpan will take the women of Akwa Ibom state off menial and labourious jobs which he noted has become the order of the day.
He stated this Weekend when the campaign train of Bishop Samuel Akpan landed in Uyo Senatorial District. At the rally held at St. Patrick’s primary school, Four Towns, Bishop Samuel Akpan was presented with a huge key by Hon. Nseabasi Brownson on behalf of the good people of Uyo senatorial District with the charge that he uses it to unlock his way to the Government House. Acknowledging the gesture of the people of Uyo, Bishop Akpan thanked them for handing the key to him, noting that it is a clear testament of the total support of Uyo towards his aspiration. He added that since the people of Uyo has got the key from Gov. Akpabio and handed over to him, he will use it to open the doors to the Hilltop mansion come May 29. He promised to build three world markets in Uyo to aid the economy and also provide employment for the people. He also promised to wage war against hunger, unemployment and oppression in the state through a holistic approach to job creation.
Speaking further, he said that Ikot Ada Idem will be transformed into a University of Technology as soon as he is elected governor. Continuing, he told the crowd that he will build a five star hospital and also revive the abandoned Science Park and bring a well organised transport system to the state. Hon Samuel Effanga, Ekere Afia and Mr. Okon Joshua all got the party’s flag to contest the House of Representatives Seat, Uyo Senatorial District and the House of Assembly Seats for Uyo state constituency respectively. Bishop Samuel called on the people to vote massively for Accord Party at all levels beginning from March 28.
Speaking further on why Bishop Akpan should become the governor of Akwa Ibom, Deacon Emmanuel Ndem stated that the former AKPF president is coming to bring to bear “common transformation’’ that will directly impact the life of the average citizen of the state as against the uncommon transformation that has impoverished the people but has rather given prominence to the elite class. Hear him: “the common transformation is coming to transform the common woman of Akwa Ibom state so that they will be gainfully engaged. The people of Uyo are proud to join this train because it’s a train to freedom, from uncommon suffering and hunger.’’
On why he believes so much in Bishop Akpan, he stated that having known him over the years, he knows him to be a man of his word and not someone that will say one thing today and do another tomorrow. “His records are very decent. I believe in him because he is a promise keeper, transformer, philanthropist and many more.’’ He cautioned that people should not base their support for any candidate on party lines but should go for people that have the pedigree to unify and transform the state. He argued that if the elections are free and fair, Accord Party will defeat PDP, he stated.
On rescheduling the elections, he debunked insinuations that it has whittled down the strength of Accord Party, noting that the postponement has further strengthen the party. “I can bet anybody that here in Uyo, the youths will give Accord Party 95 percent votes while the remaining five will be shared among the other parties. We support Bishop Akpan because he has a clean record and is not criminal minded; he is a father to all.’’ He stated emphatically that the uncommon transformation of the present administration is an enslavement to the people of Akwa Ibom, adding that it has brought so much poverty in the state. He stressed that Bishop Samuel will take after the footsteps of former governor Victor Attah. Restating his faith in Bishop Akpan, he posited that Bishop Samuel has what it takes to deliver good governance to the state.
“An average Akwa Ibom woman between the age bracket of 35—40 look like those in their eighties because of “uncommon transformation’’ policy where these women are given Head pan loaded with concretes to carry about daily. I believe Bishop Akpan is coming in to put a stop to all that through establishment of industries that will absorb these women so they can work there, look healthy and live longer.’’ He called on the electorate to vote for emancipation of Akwa Ibom people and common transformation which Accord Party represents and vote out, according to him, criminals and looters from the Government House in order to redeem the people and reclaim the rights and image of the state.
