Following false reports in the social media and some local print media that the executive chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, Mr. Anthony Akpan, has decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to All Progressive Congress, APC, youths of the area under the aegis of Oruk Anam Progressive Youth Movement, OAPYM, has reacted, describing it has cheap blackmail.
In a press statement signed by the prsident, Comrade Ise George Ekpo and Comrade Nelson Akpaneno, secretary and made available to local newspapers, the group revealed that from their investigation the report is the handiwork of a poitical jobber and chronic blackmailer, who just returned from a long sabattical to warm his way into the polity by blackmailing others.
“Further from our investigation, we have found out that one chronic blackmailer, who was on sabbatical just returned and feels the only way to warm himself into Oruk Anam polity and by extension Akwa Ibom is to blackmail others”.
The statement continued “we pick holes in the false report because we are aware that NULGE has been on strike for months now and councils have been under lock and key. So, how did Mr. Anthony Akpan gain entrance into his office to grant audience to APC members as reported?”.
The group maintained that contrary to the false report, the council boss has never at any instance met with members of APC or any opposition party, noting that the sponsor of the said report is currently jobless, seeking employment as blackmailer and thug
“ We have total confidence in the person of Mr. Anthony Akpan, a loyal and committed PDP stakeholder whose love and loyalty to the leader, Governor Godswill Akpabio qnd we vouch for him because we know that his loyalty to PDP is undoubtable”.
“We warn the sponsor of that blackmail to desist henceforth and get involved on productive ventired otherwise we shall expose him”.
The group insisted that Oruk Anam is a core PDP local government area that will never give room for any opposition party therefore any claims about APC gaining stool in the area is a baseless lie.
OAPYM further noted that Mr. Anthony Akpan is working with other party stalwarts, women and youths of the area for the success of PDP in Oruk Anam as witnessed in several meetings he has organized to sensitize the people on the importance of consolidating the uncommon transformation undertaken by the Godswill Akpabio administration.
“The chairman, we know is very passionate about ensuring that PDP wins all the positions in the coming elections. He has convened several meetings with officials of the party and stakeholders including elders, women and youths to underscore the importance of maintaining the party’s leadership”.
