Martha Udom Emmanuel: Ready to set agenda for women development in A’Ibom

As the present administration of  Governor Godswill Akpabio and  Mrs Ekaette Unoma Akpabio will come to an end by May 29, 2015, the awaiting administration of Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel is warming up to take over from the incumbent administration.

For the incoming administration of Mr Udom Emmanuel as the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State and wife, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel as the First Lady of the state, one significant thing about the incoming administration from May 29 is likely to be the major focus of the incoming First Lady, Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel on women development, advancement and promotion of the girl child, and other children as the mother of the state.

Though it was for this course and other purposes, the office of the First Lady was created to compliment and support the ever increasing work of their husband the governor, but permit me to say that most of the First Ladies have abandoned this noble called of being a mother to all the children of the state, and are actively involved in politics thereby neglect their primary responsibility of providing welfare and protection to vulnerable women and children as the mother of the state, by giving the women and the girl children including other children the pride of place in governance which Her Excellency in waiting, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel is poised to tackle in the next level of governance.

With all her people’s oriented programmes she has carefully packaged for the women and children of this state as amother for all, hope for a more better live is not lost, it shows that there will be light at the end of the tunnel. These and other things proved that Her Excellency in waiting, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel has been sufficiently prepared for the task ahead of her and the husband, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel in their vision to transform not just the state but the people.

It is therefore pertinent to conclude that Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel is indeed a blessing to Akwa Ibom women and children, and it is a great thing to have a woman of substance and nobility like her as the mother of Akwa Ibom who has the love, passion, and a tender heart for the people of the state.

Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel will not just be an ordinary mother to the women and children of Akwa Ibom but a compassionate one that feels deep in her motherly heart the cries of all his children for better lives, hence her avowed commitment and determination to reach out and up lift the downtrodden ones.

John Holmes once said that “there is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up”.

She is a compassionate mother, a virtuous woman which remains in her inner heart the motherly love towards all sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom state. She cares for the poor and needy, women, widow, and children. In her administration that is about to kick-start in the next few months, the poor children are guaranteed of a brighter and better future because they will form the major focus and key players in the next level governance of Mr & Mrs Udom Emmanuel.

Her Excellency in waiting, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel and the incoming governor, Mr Udom G. Emmanuel are people of like passion for development and people’s oriented leadership. They share the same thought and philosophy about leadership and governance. They are people of high integrity who have real love for the people they intend to serve, deep down in their heart, and they are ready to sacrifice their personal comfort and pleasure for the service of the people. 

They understand that true leaders put the people first, and practice service above self; these are the secret of good leadership that Akwa Ibom people have discovered in Mr and Mrs Udom Emmanuel, hence their love and massive support for them. They are seen in the eye of the public as people who are honest and trust worthy at all times, who cannot lie, and valued their integrity more than every other things. True leaders satisfy the people first, and that is exactly the leadership mission and vision of Her Excellency and His Excellency, Mr and MrsUdom Emmanuel.

All indications have shown that in the next level of governance that will be piloted by Mr Udom Emmanuel and Her Excellency Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel as the First Lady of Akwa Ibom state, the highest priority will be placed on the people especially the less privileged ones in the state and the poor widows.

It was Mother Teresa who once said that “it is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving”. Certainly, Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel is a charitable mother like Mother Teresa; she puts so much love and affection in her gifts to people. She does not just give generously to people but attached so much love to show how important it is for her to be generous.

Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel is a wonderful woman whose milk of kindness and generosity abounds, a righteous woman who puts God first in everything she do, and understands the burden of motherhood which she has been sufficiently prepared to give Akwa Ibom women and children the best care and love that could come from a loving Mother Teresa like Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel.

Her Excellency understands the many problems confronting the Akwa Ibom women and children and she is committed to launch the women to the mainstream of governance and pay adequate attention to the children of the state by working with her husband the governor to improve the standard of education in the state, and make qualitative education affordable for all.

Already, Her Excellency, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel has started working in synergy with the women leaders in the state and wives of paramount rulers. In all the campaigns, when her husband finished paying homage to the traditional rulers, Mrs Martha Emmanuel being a kind and loving mother will present from her heart to Her Royal Majesties. These presentations are her symbol of love, appreciation from her heart and how much she values the contributions of her royal majesties in sustaining peace and harmony in the state.

These presentations also mark and symbolize the cordial working relationship she has initiated between the wives of chiefs and paramount rulers and the next level administration of His Excellency, Mr Udom G. Emmanuel. Little wonder why her husband, Mr Udom Emmanuel told the people of Akwa Ibom state that in the next level of governance, development will be pursued from the rural areas to the urban, while in the present administration of Governor Akpabio, Development is being pursued from the urban to the rural. Because they have one vision for a better and prosperous Akwa Ibom state, the wife of the incoming governor, Her Excellency Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel has immediately key into the vision of the next level of governance by synergizing   with wives of paramount rulers.

Apart from sustaining the family life enhancement programme of the incumbent First Lady, and continue the provision of shelter for the poor widows and the fatherless children in the state, Mrs Udom Emmanuel is about to set the agenda for a robust engagement of all women and children with her laudable programmes for the poor women, widows, girl children and other vulnerable children in the state that it may be difficult for another person to surpass her achievements after their tenure may have ended.

Mrs Udom Emmanuel has made plans to ensure effective women participations in governance, and protect the girl child and other children by giving them an improved free, compulsory and qualitative education that will expose them, and make them compete favourably with those in other developed nations. Being a homely mother, a virtuous woman, Her Excellency Martha Udom Emmanuel through her women and children initiative will be able to mother Akwa Ibom children with good characters, and instil in them the habit of hard work, obedience, respect, diligent and self-discipline.

She has consciously, based on the need and current realities in the state outlined her programmes in such a way that will directly touch the lives of every woman in the state and restore the dignity and  pride of womanhood as a partner in governance and nation building. This singular initiative will produce more virtuous and responsible mothers and youths in the state, and will metamorphose the children into respected and responsible citizens that all will be proud of.
