Ahead of the recently shifted general elections in the country, the trio of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard bearers from Uyo Senatorial District: Obong Bassey Albert Akpan, Engr. Michael Enyong and Mr. Aniekan Bassey Etim, penultimate Thursday, February 5, 2015 stormed the length and breadth of Uruan as part of their electioneering activities in the state.

Addressing the mammoth crowd during the august event, which kicked off in Northern Uruan and traversed all other political zones of the LGA of Central Uruan, Southern Uruan 1 and Southern Uruan 2, the honourable commissioner for Transport in Akwa Ibom State, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh, assured the candidates of the overwhelming support from the people of the area for them and for all other PDP candidates at the state and national levels  ahead of the general polls.

Prince Ntuk Udeh, a native of the area and a notable PDP stalwart in the state, reaffirmed the people’s strong readiness to deliver the PDP presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan; the state PDP gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel; Obong Bassey Albert for Uyo Senatorial District slot, Engr. Michael Enyong for Uyo Federal Constituency slot and Mr. Aniekan Bassey Etim for Uruan State Constituency slot in the forthcoming general elections in the country.

Maintaining that the people of the area are standing on the much-talked-about “5 over 5” in Uruan, the honourable commissioner urged the candidates to always have at the back of their minds the state of infrastructure at the home front so as to work toward upgrading the socio-economic standards of the people of their various constituencies when elected into office.

In their various responses, the PDP standard bearers corroborated in their promises to do everything within their means to attract democratic dividends to their constituents if elected into office.

They, therefore, appealed to the people to turn up in large numbers in order to cast their votes en masse for them and all other PDP candidate's overall victory.

The high point of the occasion, which was graced by prominent PDP figures from the area and other government dignitaries and the political class in the state, including Prince and Mrs. Godwin Ntuk Udeh, Barr. Dominic Okon, Hon. Tony Jude Akan (Uruan LGC chair), Barr. Usenobong Akpabio, Engr. Offiong Akpabio, Obong Bassey Albert Akpan, Engr. Michael Enyong, Mr. Aniekan Bassey Etim, and a host of others, was the formal showcasing of the Uyo Senatorial District slot, Uyo Federal Constituency slot and Uruan State Constituency PDP flagbearers.
