Female football should be encouraged - Dr. Enang

A renowned     Sports Administrator in the State, Dr. Idorenyin Enang has made a case for the encouragement of female football in the state.

Dr. Enang who is the Proprietor, Victory Football Club of Abak expressed the hope that if proper attention is given to female football, the state will soon produce female players in the National teams.

The Medical Practitioner who spoke with journalists in Uyo, regretted a situation where the state relies on only Ibom Angels Football Club, pointing out that Female Football Competitions should be introduced to help discover talents at the grassroot.
The Proprietor of the defunct Annang Angels Football Club of Abak, explained that most of the players who are today featuring for various national tams started by playing in national female competitions like; Esuene Clup, Naval Officers Wives Association Cup (NOWA) and OBA of Benin Cup all organized by the Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON).

The Sports Administrator saluted the Elephants of Cote D’ Ivoire for emerging the Champions of the 2015 African Cup of Nations, stressing that the final match which ended in a lengthy penalty shout-out,  lived up to expectation.

Dr. Enang commended the State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio for constructing the Akwa Ibom International Stadium which he noted will help to promote sports development in the state.

He called on the incoming government to emulate what Chief Akpabio has done in the area of sports by encouraging grassroot sports development.
