League of Publishers have not endorsed any candidate – Uko Umoh

League of Publishers have not endorsed any candidate – Uko Umoh
The attention of the  League of News paper publishers in Akwa Ibom state has been drawn to a misleading and false news story circulating on the internet to the effect that the body has thrown its weight behind the governorship ambition of Obong Umana Okon Umana.

The story is only a fabrication by some faceless gang of misguided media goons with the intention of tarnishing the image of the body, the leadership of the body has said.
The League has therefore dissociated itself in totality from the said story.

A statement from the office of the Chairman of the body, Mr. Uko Umoh who is the publisher of Community Pulse Newspapers indicate that the body is made up of independent publishers who are at liberty to individually support any candidate of their choice without necessarily using the name of the body.
The statement stated further that the League is not in any way against the candidacy of Obong Umana or any other candidate as they are eminently qualified to lead the sate at the level they seek and that since the league is not a political party or a political group, it has no business endorsing or supporting a particular candidate.

The League of Publishers, Akwa Ibom State says they are aware of whom the perpetrator of the blackmail is and wishes to inform him that he should take time to continue in laundering the image of his principal who is from Eket Federal constituency and failed to emerge victorious at the PDP nomination rather than begin to manufacture stories were there is none.

It further added that the signatures and attendance list used by those internet marauders was smuggled out during one of the meetings of the League last year.

The body therefore wishes to call on the public to discountenance the story and has warned fabricators of the story to desist forthwith from the ignoble act, failure of which will force the body to expose him and his cohorts in the blackmail.

Preliminary Investigations reveal that one of the chief suspects is a staunch supporter of a former governorship aspirant who hails from Eket Federal constituency in the state.
