Officers and members of the PDP in Ikot Abasi State Constituency have distanced themselves from Kufre Ufot and have advised him to first contribute to the party before contesting on its platform.
Speaking to our reporter, a party stalwart and a former member of the State Executive Council said that Kufre has never voted for anybody “Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is not a child’s play or a youth office. Though he is humble and generous, he is not matured to represent us in the House.
He lacks the requisite experience and qualifications to be there. He is too timid to be in the House. I have heard that he is bragging that money will match money since he is handling a state government road project along Ikot Ekpene. He feels money alone will buy votes for him. No! experience and maturity matters a lot. I advise him to go back and face his work and family else he will lose everything.” A former chairman of Ikot Abasi stated.
Again, an officer of Mboho Edemaya, Mr. Polycap Ubongabasi disclosed that many of those who follow the young man are “simply talking a ride to nowhere. Many of them are strong supporters of other serious and matured aspirants”. Kufre has never even been a youth leader before, how can he just jump out from the blues and aspire for the State House of Assembly seat? It is a wild nightmare; people should be bold to tell him to go treat malaria. Edemeya should present a matured aspirant, else there will be regret. He warned his supporters to take a bold step and be sincere enough to tell Kufre that he is not matured for the office. Let him look for something else”.
PDP chapter officers spoke in the same vein. According to them, Kufre is the least aspirant they can support “You have to queue and wait for your turn. We like him no doubt but he is going to fail woefully because we will not give him any vote!
