Nse Ekpenyong presents original certificate in court

Nse Ekpenyong presents original certificate in court
BY SAMPSON ENYONGEKERE

The member representing Oron Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Nse Bassey  Ekpenyong today at the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, presented  the original copies of his certificates for the court perusal. THE INK can report authoritatively.

Nse Ekpenyong who is standing trial on a charge bordering on certificate forgery and alteration of documents said he decided to do so at the instance of his lawyers and to keep the records straight that this certificate was actually issued by the Abia State Polytechnic which he attended.

The Abia State Polytechnic registrar Dr Mrs. Constance Onyekachi who was present at the court and entered the witness box confirmed emphatically that the certificate presented to the court was genuine and was issued by the polytechnic.

EFCC Lawyers Ahmed Arogba had argued that the certificates were at no time issued by the said Polytechnic and therefore were not genuine.

But the defendant counsel in today’s sitting, Barr. Ekpenyong Ntekim carefully cross examined the EFCC witness, a certain ENGR. Garba Umar who himself confirmed that the certificate he has just seen must be authentic.

Engr Umar who claimed to be the Secretary of the Buhari Youth Organisation, the originators of the petition to EFCC could not produce a photocopy of the letter  from the Buhari Youth Organization, Akwa Ibom State Chapter whom he said instigated the petition.

After a meticulous observation and considerations of the arguments from the defendant and plaintiff counsels, the presiding Judge Justice ljeoma Ojukwu adjourned the matter to the 3rd and 4th May, 2017.
