AKS 28th Anniversary Celebration: Itu hails, Udom Emmanuel, prominent sons

The people of Itu  Local Government Area have congratulated the Akwa ibom State Governor, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on what they described as his record-breaking 100 days in office. The people who described the governor as pragmatic, prudent, dutiful and diligent leader enjoined all well meaning Akwa Ibomites to support the Governor in his pursuit of transforming the economy of the state from a civil service and pedestrian economy to an economic giant with auspicious technological strides through his current industrialization and investment drive in the state.
Speaking through various political and business leaders, Engr. Anthony James noted that a severe and challenging time such as now demands a “personality in a financial expert and an astute manager of men and resources with the right exposure and expertise in the mould of Deacon Udom Emmanuel to turn the fortunes of the state.
Engr. James further posited that so far, the Governor “has given a good account of himself by rising above bigotry and partisanship and justly delivering on his promises with integrity thus fulfilling the yearnings of millions of Akwa Ibom people who at the last general elections expectedly placed their collective destiny in his hands”.
He maintained that with the recommencement of operations by the Peacock Paints Ltd in Etinan, the various ground-breakings for industrial pursuits as well as the infrastructural lift in Eket and other major towns, the state is set for a major technological explosion that would bring about the actualization of the dreams and aspirations of the people.
Also, of particular interest to the area, the people applauded governor udom Emmanuel for his timely intervention on the land slide along Calabar-Itu Highway  at Enen Atai junction.
They also commended the Governor for the ground-breaking of the Luxury and Armoured Vehicles Assembly Plant at Ekim, Ikot Ukpap Itam to be manned by an Israeli outfit, Mimshack group of companies.
They further lauded the ground breaking for Lead Production Plant at Ikot Ebom, Ikot Ekwere and Afaha Ubong Itam spearheaded by Blue Ray Company even as they appreciated the governor for sponsoring youths of the area on Agricultural and ICT training overseas.
The people also saluted the political leadership of Senator Anietie Okon and Mr. Akan Okon, the state Commissioner for Finance, describing the duo as courageous, selfless, forthright, visionary, accommodating and kindhearted patriots.
The people unanimously declared that the local government has never had it so good as under their watch even as the pour encomiums on the charismatic and unassuming leadership prowess of their representatives whom they described as people-friendly in the persons of Dr. Henry Archibong and Hon. Idongesit Ituen.
The people also celebrated what they describe as the large-heartedness and unfaltering commitment to fairness and politics of inclusion championed by the two representatives in the emergence of a true party man, a former PDP chapter Chairman of the area, Hon. Okon Etim Okon from a minority clan as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the area.
The Itu people averred that the tremendous goodwill and political sagacity of both leaders accounted for the fair, non-rancourous and violent free elections witnessed in the area during the last general elections.
The people therefore pledged continued loyalty to the fair, transparent and inspiring leadership of both leaders, expressing hope in a more prosperous, better politically engaging Itu Local Government under the sustained political leadership of the Okons.
