General Manager, South South at Wema Bank, Okon Okon have assured the people of AkwaIbom of the bank’s commitment to improving customer experience and service offerings in the state.
Okon noted that Wema Bank values its customers and recognizes how valuable they are to the bank’s continued existence and growth, hence its decision to always ensure customer satisfaction.
“We are committed to ensuring that we serve our customers in the best possible ways, knowing that the ultimate outcome of teamwork in a service organization, like ours, is a satisfied customer,” Okon said.
THE INK business desk can authoritatively report that, Wema Bank has two branches in AkwaIbom State; one in Uyo, the state capital and the other in Eket, a city where international oil company Mobil and several oil servicing companies are located. The management of Wema Bank had said in 2011 when the bank went regional, that it was focusing on its areas of strength.
AkwaIbom State was one of the southern states where the bank continued its presence despite downscaling operations in other parts. Now that the bank has gone back to being a national bank, the management has insisted that the bank will continue to improve its service offerings in the state and ensure its customers enjoy a delightful and memorable experience any time they visit any of its branches.
Speaking further, Okon said, “Wema Bank has commenced the upgrade of its branches across the country, and our branches in AkwaIbom will not be left out,” “In the next few months, AkwaIbom will be next, as we upgrade to serve you better.”
“My brothers and sisters, you have representatives at Wema Bank who have your best interests at heart. I and my boss, who has brought us all to AkwaIbom , will ensure that Wema Bank serves you well,” .
“As part of the bank’s commitment to the people of AkwaIbom, we recently supported the Inoro Toyo Foundation, whose contributions to improving education in the state, you all are aware of.”
Although Wema Bank Plc. has only two branches in AkwaIbom state, the bank has assured the people of the state that they can all enjoy the bank’s services.
“With our USSD banking code *945#, everyone who has access to a GSM network can run a Wema Bank account,” says Mr. Okon Okon, General Manager, South South Region, Wema Bank Plc.
According to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), there are more than 3 million active voice lines in AkwaIbom State. “This means there are hundreds of thousands more people who have the opportunity to enjoy Wema Bank’s services,” .
“Whether you live in Udung-Uko, Nsit-Ubium, Uruan or even Uyo, just dial *945# from any type of mobile phone and you can open an account, buy airtime, transfer money or pay bills.”
Since its launch on July 7, 2016, *945# has made banking easier for Nigerians, a lot of whom have adopted the service. Although Wema Bank has been opening new branches across the country, following a national banking license obtained last year, the bank has been able to move faster with *945#, deploying the USSD banking code to parts of Nigeria it is yet to reach. With about 80 percent of the Nigerian population owning a mobile phone, the new USSD banking code has widened the reach of Wema Bank. Over the past one month, thousands of new accounts have been opened using *945#.
“To everyone in AkwaIbom who has not opened an account with Wema Bank; nothing can be easier than just dialing *945# on your phone to start receiving money from friends and relatives home and abroad,”
