International Human Right Day: Akwa Ibom to celebrate in Abak

The 2016 International Human Right Day will be celebrated globally on Saturday, 10th December, 2016.

In Akwa Ibom State, the event will take place at Eastern Annang Development Centre, Abiaokpo-Otoro Abak by 9am.

A statement by the organizers signed by the Executive Director, Community Policing Partners, Saviour Akpan Esq indicates that theme of this year’s celebration is “Enhancing Transparency and Accountability in the Extractive Sectors Security and Human Rights arrangement using the Voluntary Principle on Security and Human Rights: The Role of Host Communities”.

According to the statement, the celebration will have Chief Magistrate Dr. Idem Udosen as Guest Speaker while the Clan Head of Otoro Clan in Abak Local Government Area, Obong Saviour Sylvester Udofia will serve as the Father of the Day.
The 2016 International Human Right Day celebration in Akwa Ibom State is organized by Community Policing Partners with support from National Endowment for Democracy (NED) while Centre for Community Rights and Family Values also known as One Family are partners. 

The statement has therefore invited the general public to attend the celebration. Meanwhile, the National Coordinator, Centre for Community Right and Family Values, Obongunwana (Hon) Prince Francis Umoh has commended the Executive Director, Community Policing Partners, Saviour Akpan Esq for choosing Otoro Clan in Abak Local Government Area to host this year’s event.

Obonganwana Umoh informed that the celebration will be witnessed by a cream of personalities from within and outside the state and has accordingly invited youths and women groups and the general public to the celebration.
