The Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo is swimming in a sea of an unending battle. Apart from allegations that he is killing his party, PDP in Abak, sources said that Mr. Moses Ekpo uses complaint of lack of funds to deny his people of democratic dividends while he goes about rehabilitating his life and influencing contracts to his loved ones.
A source that craved anonymity revealed to THE INK reporter that the nomination of Mr. Udo Ekpenyong as commissioner is providing him with an opportunity to plot of ousting the deputy Governor by any means possible.
Mr Ekpenyong who is said to be embarking on image laundering to strategise himself for the plump job of Deputy Governor ahead 2019, sources said, have made more subtle moves to warm himself into the hearts of the people.
A credible source said that part of the scheme in the game is that Ekpenyong had allegedly leaked to some of his flippant confidants that he made Mr Ekpo the Deputy Governor as he deposed to an affidavit at an Abuja High Court at the dying minute of the submission of Governorship nomination form that Mr Ekpo lost his certificates to fire disaster. Ekpenyong is alleged to have said that after his swearing in, he would take over control of the Party as the political leader of Abak five as he opined that he is the best politician in the area having served PDP up to the National level.
Sources expressed fears over the comment adding that Ekpenyong as a long term, shrewd political schemer who attacks his target with surprising marksmanship might surprise the State Deputy Governor.
Mr. Udo Ekpenyong is said to have told his supporters that he has the key and the wherewithal to stop Moses Ekpo from returning to Hiltop mansion. He is alleged to have remarked that if Udom Emmanuel wants to keep Ekpo beyond his first term, that he will open the can of worms on the Certificates of Moses Ekpo.
The former PDP National officer is said to have even stated that he is not aware whether Moses Ekpo has complete certificates but that he had to go to court and deposed to an affidavit alleging that Ekpo had a fire incidence that consumed some oif his certificates.
On why, Mr Ekpenyong would stoop to blow the Deputy Governor hard in such manner, THE INK reporter had sought clarifications from the Ukanafun born politician who did not respond to the text sent to his phone number on the matter, just like the press secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr Ekikere Umoh could not give an answer to posers thrown at him to clear the air on the incomplete certificate imbroglio alleged by Ekpenyong as at when this paper went to bed by 1:03am this morning.
