AKSU VC fetes Obio Akpa campus host communities leaders, sues for more collaboration

The Vice Chancellor  Akwa Ibom State  University, Prof. Eno Ibanga yesterday hosted the congregation of Obio Akpa Campus host communities where he used that opportunity to celebrate xmas with them and called on them to show very good spirit of Christ. He charged them to see Christmas period as a time to reflect on the birth of Christ and reiterated that Christmas is a season to show mutual love and goodwill with one another especially among closed friends, colleagues and leaders.

The VC used the event to appreciate God Almighty for his infinite mercies throughout the year which also serves as a point of interaction between the host communities’ leaders and the university management, where they wine and dine with him as well as parted away with lot of gift items.

The party had in attendance the entire village heads, clan heads, the community liaison officer, Comrade Emmanuel Attai and the youth leaders of the university host communities.

Prof. Ibanga however, thanked the leaders of the University host communities for the support and cooperation given to his administration and admonished them to redouble their effort in the upcoming year and most specially support the government of Governor Udom Emmanuel administration.

The Communities Liaison Officer, Comrade Emmanuel Attai, in his welcome remark thanked the University Management for the show of love to the host communities especially during this yuletide period and assured the university management led by Prof. Eno Ibanga of the communities’ unalloyed support for the growth of the institution. 

The Youth Leader advised the members of the host communities to continue to exhibit good moral attitude for others to emulate and pointed that good morals convert and re-oriented the mind and habit of an individual in the society. Comrade Attai encouraged the people to live together as a family as such will bring unity in purpose and set goals to be achieved in the institution.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Vincent Nyoyoko said among the objectives of the institution is to key into dakkada initiative embarked by the administration of Gov. Udom Emmanuel by re-activating the university oil mill and rubber plantation which he said will boost skill empowerment and create employment for the members of the university host communities as well as for the citizens of the state.  

DVC while stressing that education remain the bed rock of development and exposure, he called on the qualify youths to enroll in the institution so that they can be informed and acquired discipline in different field of studies. 

Also speaking, the Clean Head of Obio Akpa His Highness, Obong Christian B. Essien called on the Chiefs to be worthy ambassadors of their respective domain while putting God first in all their dealing, adding that his palace is always open to attend to any bothering issues of the community, urging them to feel free to share their challenges with him at any time even as he wishes them merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.

The Village Head of Ata Obio Akpa, Obong Samuel Okon Essien commended the University management for the infrastructural renaissances in the campus and urged them to continue with the developmental strides as God will reward them bountifully. 

Obong Essien used the opportunity to thanked God for saving the life of their inlaw, the State Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel during the collapse of Reigners Church building and commiserates with the families of the victims who lost their lives on the incident and prayed for the quick recovery for those who hospitalize and called on the good people of the state to continue to pray for God protection upon the Governor and his family to enable him deliver more dividends of democracy to the state.
