Penultimate Saturday, 3 armed robbers were burnt to ashes over alleged robbery in Ikot Edet, Etim Ekpo LGA.
The 3 young men who were said to be Rivers state – based included son of a Brotherhood of the cross and star pastor from the village by name Anieyoukutt Akpan Udo Adoko.
Sources in the village told our crime correspondent that the 3 men had blocked a lady along Usung Urua Afa in the village and attempted to snatch the bike but changed their mind after one of them had allegedly suggested that the men’s motor cycle would be preferable since they were to return Rivers State which they never did.
The lady is said to have ridden straight to where the village youths were having merriment at late Chief Benson Affia Family compound. Sources said that they reacted swiftly and moved to cordon and search the bush where the armed robbers had hidden to operate; short guys and masks were said to have been recovered from the armed gang.
However, the robbery suspect son of the Pastor is said to have shocked his mother who visited the scene of jungle justice before heading to the police station of Utu Etim Ekpo. By the time the police awaked, the 3 armed robbers were said to be coasting to their early graves in the awesome plane.
The police who were said to have come from Utu Etim Ekpo and Area Command headquarters, Ikot Ekpene expressed appreciation to the village to their red – alertness in combating crimes and criminality , pointing out that the police can effectively do their work with the cooperation of the people.
