Obong University Inter-Secondary Schools Football competition enters second round

Local Government Champions have emerged in the ongoing Obong University Inter-Secondary Schools Football Competition for Secondary Schools in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

The schools that have so far qualified for the second round are; Mcintire Secondary Commercial School, Utu Abak, representing Abak local government area, Nigerian Christian Academy, Uruk Ata Ikot Akpan, representing Etim Ekpo local government area, Mary Day Christian Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Inyang Ese, representing Ika local government area and Excellence Comprehensive Secondary School, representing Ukanafun local government area. 

Others are; Saint Paul Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Ekpene, representing Ikot Ekpene local government area, Community Secondary School, Nto Edino, representing Obot Akara local government area, Ukpom Community Secondary School, Ukpom, representing Ikono local government area and Iwerre Comprehensive Secondary School, representing Ini local government area.

As at the time of filing this report, the match between Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikpe Annang and Independent High School, Ukana to decide the champions for Essien Udim local government area was still in progress. Similarly, the match between Government Secondary School, Mbiakot and Community Secondary School, Ikot Osute was still going on at Qua Iboe Church Secondary School, Ikot Okoro. 

A statement by the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Hon. Nkopuyo Ukpe indicates that the Draws for the Second Round of the competition will take place today.

Hon. Ukpe in the statement commended all the participating schools for exhibiting good spirit of sportsmanship and thanked the Proprietor of Obong University, Prof. Akpanudo for sponsoring the competition which he noted, will promote grassroot sports development as well as discovering hidden football talents abound in the state.
