The National leadership of the All Progressive Congress has called on Mr. Ita Awak who paraded himself as the publicity Secretary of the party in Akwa Ibom State to henceforth stop parading himself as the spokesman of the party as he is nothing but an impostor who only usurped the office of Samuel Udobong simply because he Ita Awak was working to promote his selfish interest and that of his pay master Obong Umana Okon Umana.
This came to the fore during the party’s zonal congress/reconciliation meeting held in Uyo, the State Capital penultimate weekend. The zonal chairman Hilard Eta who received petitions from Umana and Udoedehe’s Camps at the meeting warned the state party chairman Mr. Amadu Atai to stop trading the party for pecuniary benefits.
Etta who observed with dismay the drift in APC core values in the state attributed it to the unvasion of the party by those who failed in the PDP and warned that the National leadership of the party shall not hesitate to deal with anyone found to be misleading the party.
THE INK gathered that the APC zonal meeting which saw Udoedehe and Don Etiebet almost throwing punches decided amongst others that the former petroleum minister should stop parading himself as the Akwa Ibom State Caucus Chairman of the APC noting that the constitution of the party does not allow any other person apart from the State chairman of the party assume such position.
Apart from Ita Awak who was disowned by the zonal APC as a busy body and a man who does not represent the interest of the party but that of Obong Umana Umana, the meeting also reinstated every structure of Senator John James Udoedehe that were suspended from the APC.
The Hilard Etta zone of the APC observed that Amadu Atai acted with so much impunity and expressed sadness over the actions of the state chairman of the APC whom it was noted acted under the influence of financial inducement.
In his defense Amadu Atai knelt down and begged Senator Udoedehe pleading for forgiveness for betraying the former Senator. He promised to ensure that he follows the dictates of the constitution of the party so that the party will consolidate its position in the scheme of things.
Attai who expressed displeasure over the pressure Umana’s Camp mounted on him to some of the APC leaders said that he needed to get some money from the PDP returnees to fund the party (APC) and therefore, the only way he could do that was by conceding to UOU’s demands.
Corroborating the position of the APC South-South zone on the offices of the party in Akwa Ibom State, the leader of APC in Akwa Ibom State Senator John Akanudoedehe in a press parley in his chapel villa residence described Ita Awak as an impostor who was never the spokesman of the APC.
Senator Udoedehe throwing more punches said, the APC ran into troubled waters when Umana Umana joined the party. He noted that the longest serving Akwa Ibom SSG began to see himself as an emperor that has conquered a territory and then usurped peoples offices in the party.
Udoedehe said, he is justified that today, the zonal chapter of the party has done the needful by condemning the ills Obong Umana and his cohorts infected the party with.
Confirming the sack of Ita Awak as the spokesman of the APC in Akwa Ibom State Samuel Udobong in an Xmas message to this reporter through SMS said, merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year full of God’s blessings and protection. Samuel Udobong, state publicity secretary APC, Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking to newsmen after the zonal meet of the party, stakeholders commended the intervention of the zonal APC. They argued that the intervention will return sanity to the party and that the original owners of the party shall reclaim APC and position it to challenge the PDP in the shortest possible time.
Amongst those who celebrated the intervention of the APC zonal committee were former MILAND of Ogun State Sam Enwang, ACN strongman Efiok Akpan amongst others.
When contacted on his predicament in the APC, Engr. Ita Awak who had earlier served as commissioner for Information in Obong Atta’s administration refused to comment. An obviously shocked Ita Awak refused to respond to an SMS sent to his phone. Even as he ignored calls put across to him as at the time this paper went to bed last night.
Meanwhile, those who claimed to know said to THE INK reporter that Ita Awak may not even be a member of the APC as there are no records in the party showing his membership. Others who spoke said, the ex-commissioner for Information is a shameless hypocrite who feels that insulting and desecrating the office of the Governor will make him a better spokesman for a group and or persons.
Our political desk can authoritatively report that the temperament in Akwa Ibom APC has not ben the same ever since the zonal leadership came and left. A foremost leader in the APC hinted THE INK that from all indications, the party structure may be under the leadership of John Udoedehe.
But those close to Obong Umana insisted that it may be two early in the day to ascribe success and or leadership of Akwa Ibom State APC to Udoedehe and Sam Enwang they aavered that the next state congress of the party shall reveal whom the party is following.
THE INK gathered that a lot of intrigues, suspense, and potential fight is in the offing in the coming days in the APC.
