The need to promote love, charity and peaceful co-existence, among Nigerians, as the real essence of Christmas has been advanced by the President, African Media Network, AMNET, and immediate past Commissioner for Information and Communications, in the State, Elder Aniekan Umanah.

Elder Umanah made this known when he treated about 600 women from Abak Local Government Area in his country home to an end-of-the year party, where he described the solidarity and support from women over the years as heartwarming and encouraging.

Elder Umanah at the event drummed support for Governor Udom Emmanuel whom he noted is a leader that has shown commitment and passion for the people’s welfare regardless of the recession the nation was experiencing.
Advising the women to rally round the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo as he continues to sustain peace and political stability in the state Elder Umanah expressed satisfaction with the Deputy Governor’s leadership in the area.
On the rewarding representation the state has enjoined through the Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Akpabio, Umanah lauded the Senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District for his robust contributions to issues of national and state development and pledged the people’s continued support.

Presenting bags of rice, cash, wrappers, drinks and salt to the women, his wife, Mrs. Maureen Umanah recounted the support they have enjoyed from people of the area and announced that the end of the year parley with women was in support of the advocacy of the Governor’s wife, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, towards the better welfare of women and youths as exemplified through FEYReP.

Filled with gratitude, some women including the Peoples Democratic Party Senatorial Women Leader, Mrs Useneno Tom, listed several other things Elder Umanah has done in the area to include giving succor to the downtrodden and lifting families from poverty, while promising to always stand by him.

They danced and rejoiced in the spirit of the yuletide in commendation of the benevolence of their host while some youths joined in the jubilation with drum beats in solidarity with Elder Aniekan Umanah.
