Ekere commiserates Micah on Mum’s death
L-R: Former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere; House of Representatives’ Member for Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo/Mkpat Enin Federal Constituency, Dr. Akpan Micah Umoh; and Chairman of Ikot Abasi Local Government, Arc. Ufot Udoinyang, during a visit to Bridge of No Return, an historical slave port in Ikot Abasi, on Sunday.

The immediate past Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere, has condoled with the Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo/Mkpat Enin Federal Constituency, Dr. Akpan Micah Umoh, on the death of his mother, Madam Adiaha Micah Tom Umoh.

Speaking at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Ete, during a thanksgiving service for the deceased on Sunday, Mr. Ekere urged the federal legislator and other members of the deceased family to be consoled by the fact that their mother successfully fought the battle of life and sacrificially brought them up in the fear of the Lord.

He charged them to uphold the virtues of hard work, honesty and fear of the Lord which she inculcated in them.

Mr. Ekere expressed delight with the sound health of the widower, Pa Micah Tom Umoh, despite his old age, and prayed God to continue to keep him strong.

He charged members of the church to be steadfast in their faith despite life’s challenges, knowing that God was on their side and drew their attention to the Biblical story of John who survived a boiling cauldron because of his faith in God.

The former Deputy Governor, a Knight of John Wesley, pledged to totally rebuild the church, one of the oldest in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, and where he grew up.

In his remarks, Dr. Umoh thanked God for the successful burial ceremony of his mother especially the clement weather on Friday, the burial day.

The highpoint of the service was a special prayer session for the family of the deceased and the success of Mr. Ekere’s gubernatorial ambition led by the Presbyter, Rev. Sylvanus Ekpenyong.
