The Executive Chairman  of Mkpat Enin Local Government Council Hon. Ephraim Akpan has taken a bold step towards fulfilling his promise to pay Students from Mkpat Enin their bursary allowance. This will be the first time that students of the local government will receive bursary in more than four years.

The council boss recently approved the release of over two thousand bursary forms to all the students of Mkpat Enin origin in tertiary institutions across the federation. The Supervisor of Education in the council, Hon. Uwem Ita, in a meeting with the Chapter Heads of National Association of Mkpat Enin Students (NAMES) and the Worldwide President of the Association reassured the students that the council will always continue to pay great attention to issues affecting the students.

Responding on behalf of the students, the worldwide president, Comrade Usenobong Ekponyoh thanked the Council boss for the support he has been giving to the students and for fulfilling the promise he made to the students that bursary will be paid. Comrade Ekponyoh promised him that students of the local government will always be of good behavior and will not do anything that will dent the image of the council. He also pleaded with the council to help the association and provide it with an office within the local government headquarters to ease the administration of the Association.

Some of the chapter heads who spoke with THE INK NEWSPAPER pleaded with council chairman to please increase the amount to be paid to at least help them purchase a textbook. “I want to plead with our ever performing chair to please increase the bursary allowance to at least enable us afford a textbook, we buy textbooks at the rate of 10,000 naira each, so I know very well that he will listen to our cries”.

Another chapter head who did not want his name in the print also pleaded with the council boss to increase the amount to be paid to at least match up with what their counterparts are receiving from other local governments in the state.

The students also took out time to thank the council boss for the great works that he has been doing within the local government. They also took out time to pray for the success of his administration.
