A frontline contender of the Ini State Constituency in the 2015 election, Mr. Victor Isong has called on the people of the area to equitably and fairly zone the State Constituency seat to Nkari Clan. Speaking with newsmen in Uyo, Mr. Isong noted that since the creation of Ini Local Government, Nkari has not been fairly treated in terms of distribution of political offices, provision of basic amenities and employment opportunities; maintaining that Ini people should collectively support and encourage the aspirations of Nkari people in their quest to produce the next House of Assembly member for Ini in the State Constituency race to foster the needed peace and development in the area.
Speaking further, the Abuja-Lagos-based Management Consultant regretted the infrastructural delay in the area, observing that although the State Governor has performed tremendously well in the provision of basic infrastructures across the state, it was unfortunate that Ini people have not had their share of democratic dividends despite years of their unrelenting yearnings. He opined that as the food basket of the state, the area was passionately yearning for an access road to harness the movement of farm produce from the hinterland to the city market as well as ameliorate the suffering of the people.
The State Assembly hopeful who was passionate about the plight of his people promised to improve on their lot as well as attract government’s presence to the area when voted into the State Assembly. He explained that the rising spate of insecurity, youth restiveness and other vices in the society has resulted in an increased number of unemployment among the youths, stressing that his cardinal responsibility in the State Assembly will be the formulation of employment driven policies that will gainfully employ Akwa Ibom youths.
Responding on Nkari Crisis, Mr. Isong said “the crisis is over. Infact, we are at the verge of inviting the press to come and confirm the present condition of the community. There was a crisis that was not peculiar to Nkari alone but I do not know why people are trying to use that as a yardstick to have their share of political compensation. We are waiting for the committee of Enquiry to formerly present the White Paper but I know there is absolute peace in Nkari.
The Nkari born technocrat who is seeking justice, equity and fairness across the state regarding the 2015 general elections submitted that all the Wards in Ini have had one opportunity or the other to represent Ini, stressing that it is only one Ward, being Nkari Ward that is yet to be politically favoured, calling on stakeholders and the electorate to allow Nkari have a fair share come 2015.
