Youth group under the aegis of PDP National Youth Reap, Akwa Ibom state Chapter have given their unalloyed and unflinching support to the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in office.

The group also commended the uncommon transformation projects/programmes of the executive Governor of the state, His Excellency, Obong Godswill Obot Akpabio and declared their total loyalty to party at all levels.

These were contained in a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting held last Monday in Uyo.

Earlier, in his welcome speech, the state coordinator of PDP National Youth REAP, Mr. Emmanuel Ebebe thanked the members for coming out across the length and breadth of the state to attend the crucial meeting and used the medium to emphasize on the aims and objectives of PDP National Youth Reap which is to support the President in his second term bid.

“Our sole aim is to mobilize support for the President, to put all our resources and time together and tell Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan that he deserves a second term in office. That is our primary assignment”. He enthused.

“Secondly, we are also supporting the PDP government at the state and all the levels”. He added.
He further explained that REAP was an acronym for Rural Empowerment and Advocacy Project. Mr. Ebebe added that the group will mediate with the government for the benefit of the youths in the ruling party. He advised all members of REAP must be card carriers in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr. Ebebe also informed the house that group at the National level have agreed to merge with another faction of the group who also go with the same name, and that some offices will be allocated them.
This development did not however go down well with the members who kicked against the idea initially and said that merging with a faction group and seceding of offices to them will bring disharmony to the group. This issue generated a heated deliberation among the members.

In his contribution, Mr. Itohowo  Akpan from Abak chapter suggested  that the other faction should be accepted but on the condition that they will go to their respective wards and chapters to register as members and if deemed fit they should be given positions in due course rather than giving them automatic positions at the state or Chapter level.

His suggestion was accepted by the general house.
Responding to the issue, the state coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Ebebe enjoined all office holders in the organization to redouble their effort as non functioning chapter coordinators and state executives will be replaced with active members.

The meeting was well attended by all the chapters coordinators and state executives.
