Church of the Nazarene ends Easter convention

BY JOHN JOHN

From the 18th of April to the 20th April, 2014,  many churches around Nigeria coincidentally had EASTER RALLIES and/or CONVENTIONS as Church of the Nazarene, Uyo District was not left out in the euphoria of celebrations of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The convention had as its theme “BY HIS STRIPES” (Isaiah 53:5). It had gospel messages, song ministrations, high praise/worship, special ministration from the 50 man accapella crew led by indomitable Ubong Ikpeh, with Captain Promise ekong, Pastor ANiefiok Daniel and Rev. Asuquo Umoh as guest speakers. On Friday 18th April, 2014, the programme started about 6pm with praise and worship, choir ministrations, ministration by the 50-man accapella crew, viewing of the Efik version of the Jesus film with special consideration on His death and resurrection and then the highopoint of the event of the day came which was the powerful ministration by Captain Promise Ekong who spoke on the topic “Break the Box” with reference to the woman with the alabaster box who broke the box and used the costly oil to wash Jesus’ feet.

Same suit followed on Saturday with similar programmes exception of the accapella ministration but with yet another prophetic ministration from Pastor Aniefiok Daniel of Christ Hope Ministries, Uyo.

To crown the whole convention up was the special Sunday service by 9am which was to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus. The service started with Sunday school teachings in different departments i.e. adult, youths and children classes from 9am-10am and the main service kicked off in earnest by 10am with praise and worship, choirs ministration, apostolic message from Rev. Asuquo Umoh who is the immediate past chairman in council of the Church in Nigeria and currently the Nsit Ubium District Pastor, then the highpoint of the day was the communion which signifies sharing the love of Christ amongst men.

The convention was indeed a great time in God’s presence as everybody there who attended the convention went home fulfilled with testimonies.

According  to the Church Council, Nsit Ibom District are the next for the convention which comes up next month and the national convention comes up in December at the Church National Headquarters at Ndiya, Nsit Ubium LGA.

The Uyo District Pastor (Rev. Samuel Jonah) however thanked all those that attended the great convention and prayed that as Christ has resurrected, all our dead success, prosperity, salvation, healing is resurrected.
