Lawmaker Nsit Atai Ward 5 backs Sarah Elijah for 2nd Term

…Re-affirm Chief Sunday Elijah as authentic political Leader

The people of Eastern Nsit Ward 5, Nsit Atai Local Government have unanimously endorsed Mrs. Sarah Sunday Elijah, the Member Representing Nsit Atai State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for 2nd term and as well re-confirmed Chief Sunday Elijah Akpan as the authentic Political Leader for Nsit Atai.

The people of the ward declared their stand during the visit of the Lawmaker and the political leader to the area on Sunday 27th April, 2014.

On their arrival to the area, the lawmaker and the Political Leader who first visited the ward executives of the Peoples’ Democracy Party was received by the 13 ward Executives of the party and other political stakeholders from the ward including; the Chapter Vice Chairman, Mr. Christiantus Effiong, and the Ward Chairman, Mr. Ime Utok, the political leader of the ward, Chief C O Akpan, the Councilor representing the ward, Hon. Iqwo Etim Akpan and the former Councilor of the ward, Elder Ekpenyong Etim among others.


The lawmaker addressing the ward executives thanked the Almighty God for his protection upon her people to see the great day. She specifically thanked the ward executive for their support during her electioneering in 2011. She said, she came to share in the spirit of Easter with the people of the ward and pledged more continuous development to the ward.

In his words, the political leader of the area maintained that only a fool can forget the past, that he can’t forget the support that his people gave to him and his wife during the 2011 election, adding that he and his wife choose to embark on the visit to appreciate his people for the supports they gave to them.

The ward Chairman, Mr. Ime Utok who expressed excitement over the visit commended the lawmaker on her developmental projects so far for the people of the area and for not disappointing the party, while pledging the party continuous support and solidarity to the lawmaker and the political Leader.

The lawmaker and the political leader later led the entourage to pay a courtesy visit to the Group Head of Ibiaikot and the Village Head of Idikpa Ikot Ntuen, Chief D. B. Effiong. Also present during the courtesy visit were the Village Head of Ikot Asua, Chief Idim Akpan Akpan; the Village Head of Ikot Akpabio, Chief Benjamin Obok; the Village Head of Ikot Obong, Chief Ubom Akpan Nyong and that of Ikot Itie Udon.

At the palace of the Group Head, Hon Mrs. Elijah thanked the Almighty God for keeping the Monarch alive till date, describing him as most respectable clan head in the area who has contributed immensely toward the wellbeing and development of the people both in the clan and outside local government area.

The political leader while speaking called on the traditional fathers to continue praying for the stability of peace among the people of Nsit Atai, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria come 2015, adding that at the appointed time, God will choose a leader who will lead his people in the upcoming general elections in the country. 

In his response, the Group Head of Ibiaikot, Chief D. B. Effiong who was overwhelm with excitement over the visit of the Lawmaker and the Political Leader extolled the leader qualities exhibited by the lawmaker since she step into office in 2011. According to him, the lawmaker has brought peace into the political system of Nsit Atai and that she has broke the record and prove critics wrong through her effective, meaningful and purposeful representation to the people of the area.

The monarch however called on the politicians to emulate the lawmaker and the political leader’s leadership styles by learning to appreciate people who supported them when they were elected into power and therefore pray for more blessings and protection to the Lawmaker and their family.

Also speaking at the palace of the Group Head was the Political Leader of Ward 5, Chief C. O. Effiong, who thanked the chiefs for the warm reception given to the Political Leader and his wife despite the short notice and the lawmaker for her love for the people of the ward.

At the reception venue, the Elders, Youths and women as well as the entire people of Eastern Nsit ward 5 were full of praises to the Assembly Member and the political Leader for their selfless service to them in terms of meaningful projects and human capital development. 

In their separate speeches, Chief Etim Bassey Akpan, Mrs. Rose Frances, Elder Ekpenyong Etim, Chief C O Akpan and Elder Ekpenyong Etim who spoke on behalf of the people of the ward described the House of Assembly Member as a God sent leader who was sent to open doors to the people of Nsit Atai, while calling on the people to render their full support to her and as well unanimously endorsed her for a second term.

The people re-confirmed Chief Sunday Elijah as the authentic Political Leader of Nsit Atai and therefore condemned the attitude of some selfish and ungrateful politicians in the ward who are claiming to be political leaders, adding that charity begins at home and that, if anyone wants to be a leader, he must first start from his home before going outside. The people however warned that whoever parades his or her self on such position to stop, as a fraudster can never be emerged as a political leader.

While counting on her numerous projects done for her people, the lawmaker said she came to rescue her people from the hands of the selfish politician in the area and thanked the people for believing in her and giving her the opportunity to represent them in the state House of Assembly. She equally thanked the State Governor, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio and his wife for the opportunity given her to serve her people, while promising to allow her impact to be felt by people through her developmental projects to them.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of Hair Dressing Equipment to Miss Atim E Akpan who was trained under Mrs. Elijah’s Skills Acquisition Training Programme as well as presentation of Wrapper to the women across the villages in the Ward.
