It was a day that
the sky was within Barr. Ekong Sampson’s limit, member representing Mkpat Enin
State Constituency in the State House of Assembly as politicians from all the
three local government constituting Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency adopted
Barr. Ekong Sampson as their sole candidate for 2015 National Assembly
position.
Infact , the
meeting brought an end to the scrambling for a qualified candidate for the 2015
National Assembly race as the political stakeholders from Ikot Abasi Federal
Constituency unanimously adopted Barr. Ekong Sampson for the National Assembly
seat. At the hall of fame in Ikot Abasi Council Secretariat, the political
atmosphere did go against the decision as the weather was so friendly.
It was witnessed
by political groups, traditional rulers, political chieftains and elders of the
party including youths and women groups in a clear democratic process.
As a man the
needed experience for the National Assembly position, according to the people
it was necessary to add more grieze to his elbow by saddling him with another
great task of selfless service at the lower chambers of the National Assembly
as a sign of honour given his performances in the state house of assembly. And
facts have not raised any doubt that Barr. Ekong Sampson has impacted so much
on the lives of the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency which triggered
their decision to use the 2015 National Assembly race as a panacea to reward
the benefactor of peoples benevolent.
In the words of
William Shakespeare, he said, “It does not matter how long an artist last on
stage but how much he perform”. And it is believe that an artist who make
mistakes on the stage does not stay long. But an actor who stays longer than he
should is enjoying the support of the fans as the fans also enjoy the artist.
As experience is
said to be the best teacher, the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency posited
that Barr. Ekong Sampson started his milestone political achievement when he
was the transition chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government. Due to his
achievement as a transition chairman, he was elected a full-flesh chairman of
Mkpat Enin Local Government, a position he occupied for three good years with
positive impact.
In 2007, Barr.
Ekong Sampson was elected into the state House of Assembly as member
representing Mkpat Enin Sate Constituency in the State House Assembly. Due to
his outstanding while in the state house, he was re-elected for a second term
to complete the good legislative function he had already started. Barr. Ekong
Sampson did not see his re-election for a second term as a panacea for self
development or enrichment, but saw it as another opportunity to affect his
people the more.
Apart from his
campaign promises made fulfilled, Rt. Hon. Ekong Sampson has been able to
execute so many life touching projects which has gone a long way to develop
human place and event.
Barr. Ekong
Sampson’s tied union with the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency is as a
result of evidence of positive contributions in both the floor of the house and
in the execution of constituency projects. In the state house, Barr. Ekong
Sampson has been able to give ideas necessary and capable of transforming the
state house and Akwa Ibom State as a whole.
According to the
people, Rt. Hon. Ekong Sampson has acquired much knowledge and experience in
all stages of governance, and because of his fairness and transparency in the
discharge of his responsibilities even when he was a transition chairman of
Mkpat Enin Local Government endeared people to him.

had made me to understand that the aspiration of Barr. Ekong Sampson has become

only voice to reckon in terms of effectiveness in his capacity.

conviction the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency adopt Rt. Hon. Ekong
Sampson as their sole candidate for the 2015 National Assembly race to zeal the
early decision of former political office holders from the federal constituency
led by Hon. Ekong Mex Umoh.
During Barr. Ekong
Sampson’s endorsement by the former political office holders which was out of
shopping for effective representative who will give the people effective
representation as well as creating positive impact in the federal constituency,

endorsement of Barr. Ekong Sampson by the Forum of Former Top Lawmakers from
Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, led by Hon. Ekong Mex Umoh with a plea to accept
their called for service in a bid to salvage the federal constituency from the
present situation which has thrown the federal constituency into darkness,
trial and error and blunders as a result of in-competency, was accompanied by
Hon. Polycarp Obong, former house of assembly member Rt. Hon. Dr. Charles
Mbong, Rt. Hon. Lambert Monday Joshua, Former leader Eastern Obolo, Hon. Udo H.
Ekpewo, former leader Mkpat Enin, Hon. Ufok Frank, former leader, Ikot Abasi
Local Government Council, Hon. (Barr.) Fedelis Ekwere, former leader, Ikot
Abasi Local Government Council and Rt. Hon. Friday Okobo, former leader Mkpat
Enin Local Government Council. At the solidarity visit the former political
office holders made their position clear barbing on effective representation as
a matter of important and public concern in the present political era sealed
their endorsement with an affirmative facts that the season of light and edge
of wisdom has come for the federal constituency to be librated through
effective representation.
Barr. Ekong
Sampson barrel of positive impact on project execution and empowerment
programmes has cut across the entire federal constituency which informs the
embrace of his ambition by Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency youths an umbrella
organization known as the Supreme Council of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency
Youths (SCIFECOY) without any fear or favour in their unanimous decision
adopting Barr. Ekong Sampson as their preferred and only candidate for the 2015
federal constituency seat.
It was not an
ordinary adoption, but was backed up with a strong communiqué issued at the end
of the interactive summit with youth leaders, political class and activists of
the three local governments constituting the federal constituency on Wednesday,
July 2, 2014.
At the Hall of
Fame in Ikot Abasi Local Government Council Secretariat, the sudden population
explosion upsurged at the meeting with recognized authentic groups across the
federal constituency was more than the federal constituency briefing. The
youths who said they have found quality leadership in Barr. Ekong Sampson,
vowed not to be misled by sentiments of ethnicity neither will they support any
other aspirant who feign ignorant of his sense of representation. The meeting
which was chaired by Comrade Etop Enang, a former youth council chairman in
Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State and currently, Chairman
Elders Council of the Supreme Council of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency Youths
in the communiqué, described Barr. Ekong Sampson as the only person to
stabilize and help the federal constituency to achieve their expectation growth
and development through constituency projects, youths empowerment, scholarship
award and all round development as well as maintain peace and harmony.
The youths played
back the role of Barr. Ekong Sampson during a conflict in Ikot-Akpanudo to
restore peace adding that the lawmaker is a man with vigour, pedigree, amiable
skills and intellect to proffer lasting solutions to peoples problem as well as
bringing the federal government present to bare in the federal constituency
through developmental projects.
As a golden fish
that has no hiding place, the traditional institution in Ikot Abasi Federal
Constituency have also endorsed Barr. Ekong Sampson for the federal
constituency seat. Lead by the former chairman of Old Ikot Abasi, Hon. (Chief)
Ignatius U. Una, accompanied by village heads of the constituency in a well
organized gathering in the federal constituency adopted Barr. Ekong Sampson in
a clear terms saying “We the chiefs and Elders from this federal constituency
have adopted you as our consensus candidate given your legislative experience,
accessibility and all round empowerment programmes for the development of the
people. We resolve that Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency cannot again and will
never elect any body without leadership quality, experiency, God’s-fearing and
philanthropic disposition to represent us at the national assembly”. It was a
clear democratic atmosphere as practiced in developed countries as village
heads beckon on Rt. Hon. Ekong Sampson to contest for national assembly seat
promising him their fatherly support.
The Elders who
described barr. Ekong Sampson as a man after God’s heart, said in develop
countries that understand the dynamics of democracy good people are fished out
and demand for their services in the society. People like Ekong Sampson could
be elected as many times as he may wants to go due his effectiveness in both
the floor of the house and in the execution of constituency project.
Moving the motion
for the endorsement of Barr. Ekong Sampson as the consensus candidate for the
National Assembly position, Chief Jeremiah Usoide, a title chief, described the
lawmaker as a committed son of the soil who uses his wealth and experience to
ensure the development of its constituents through meaningful projects,
scholarship award and empowerment programmes. Chief Usoide remarked that the
endorsement of Barr. Ekong Sampson for National Assembly capacity is a
reciprocation of understanding given his outstanding performance. “I will not
be able to mention all your projects one after the other but I am conversant
with all these projects which has cut across the entire Ikot Abasi Federal
Constituency. The scholarship award to students, the Skills Acquisition
training, the empowerment programmes and even the taxi caps you spread across
the constituency to give our children a sources of livelihood we are not
ignorant about it, we say God bless you and as we bless you today, so shall you
be blessed in your political field and other fields of endeavour because it is
the blessing of the father”. The royal father ended.
Consequently,
Youth groups from Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency are day-by-day declaring
their support for Rt. Hon. Ekong Sampson. These over declaration of support to
the lawmaker is unconnected to his numerous achievement and his fair characteristics
which has long ago endeared people to him.
Today, Barr. Ekong
Sampson is seen, known as a story changes in Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency
that is why he is enjoying the support of the traditional rulers, Elders,
women, groups, youth groups and all the political chieftains, stakeholders and
class from Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency extraction to secure the 2015 Ikot Abasi
