 Sylvia Ekong partners FEYReP to change sad stories of 100 Uyo Women

The Honourable Supervisor, women Affairs and Empowerment, Uyo Local Government Transition Committee, Evangelist Sylvia Ekong has empowered over a hundred women from the eleven wards in Uyo LGA with valuable items to enhance their productivity.

She donated the items over the weekend, when she hosted women of the eleven wards of Uyo, at the local government council secretariat.

Speaking at the event, Evangelist Ekong stated that the gesture was in partnership with Deaconess Udom Emmanuel’s pet project; Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation (FEYReP) in touching the lives of women and children.

The former House of Representatives aspirant, expressed her appreciation to governor Emmanuel and wife, for the opportunity given her to serve in Uyo local government transition committee, assuring the governor, hinting that she has started mobilizing thousands of women that will give massive votes for Governor Emmanuel in 2019.


She thanked the women for coming out en masse to the event and advised beneficiaries to make good use of the items, promising that those who are not benefiting will surely benefit in subsequent edition.

Evangelist Ekong urged the women to get their permanent voter’s card and be ready to vote for PDP in 2019 elections.

Speaking on the occasion, the Transition chairman, Uyo local government transition committee, Barr Mfon Ben, thanked Evangelist Ekong for alleviating the sufferings and anguish of the women, emphasizing on the need for togetherness and the continuous support for women.

He urged women to shun jealousy,  but to appreciate the efforts of governor Udom Emmanuel in bringing dividends of democracy to the state, advising the beneficiaries to see the items as God’s divine favour through Evangelist Ekong.

The chairman, local government service commission, Sir Val Attah represented by Mr Tony Asikpo acknowledged the efforts of Evangelist Ekong for improving the quality of lives of women via the items provided, advising the women to also help the less privileged in their own capacity for better society.

He stressed out the need for women to show others the way forward and to get their permanent voter’s card to vote for PDP in 2019 elections, explaining that governor Emmanuel’s score card in two years deserves a second term.

The speaker of the day, Dr Ima-obong Akpan enumerated the benefits of governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration to include, free and compulsory education, free medical care for pregnant women and children, industrialization, regular payment of worker’s salaries, social amenities amongst others, adding that governor Emmanuel’s administration has meet-up all the characteristics of good governance.

Other dignitaries that graced the event were wife of the member representing Uyo in Akwa Ibom State house of Assembly Mrs Joyful Eyo, wife of the Chairman, UCCDA, Mrs Eno-obong Uwah, members of Uyo Local government transition committee, wards women leaders amongst others.

Items distributed includes generators, freezers, dryers, sewing machines and wrappers.

The beneficiaries however, appreciated Evangelist Ekong for the gestures and thanked the governor’s wife, Mrs Martha Emmanuel for her enormous favour to women, promising to vote for her dear husband; Mr Udom Emmanuel to continue in office till 2023.
