Youths of Ikot Obong, Afaha Obong in Abak local government area under the umbrella of Ikot Obong Youth Council (IYC) have decided to honour one of their illustrious daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jude John (JP) with the prestigious award as “Eka Mkparawa Ikot Obong” for her selfless contribution to youth activities, development of the community and humanity at large.
The youths made their position known when they pay a courtesy visit to Mrs. Elizabeth Jude John.
In his speech, the President, Ikot Obong Youth Council, Mr. Edidiong Okoyo commended Mrs. Elizabeth John for using her position to touch the lives of others positively.
The youth president prayed God to continue to bless her and the entire family and give her the enablement to continue to render selfless services to the community and the society at large.
Also speaking, the Coordinator Conglomeration of Youths for Democratic Liberty (CYDL) Comrade Monday Isaac said the visit was to thanked Mrs. Elizabeth John for what she has been doing for the community and also intimate her of the plan by the youths of the village to honour her with the prestigious award of Eka Mkparawa Ikot Obong during the Youth Day Celebration later in the year.
Comrade Isaac used the occasion to inform their host of the programmes and activities of the youths. Responding, Mrs. Elizabeth John, beaming with enthusiasm, expressed gratitude to God for what He has done in her life and thanked the youths for finding her worthy for the honour.
Mrs. John commended the youths for maintaining peace in the community and for initiating programmes aimed at bringing peace, unity and development to the community.
She advises the youths to shun violence and act capable of tarnishing their image and future, but should always remember to put God first in all their endeavours.
Mrs. John pledged her continuous support to the programmes of the youths. Some of the personalities present at the occasion included; Mr. Friday Udo, CBN, Lagos, Mrs. John John Udofia among others.
