Incessant killing, kidnapping:  Mbiakong Uruan sends sos to AKSG

Following the perennial killing, maiming and kidnapping incidence in Mbiakong Community in Uruan Local Government Area, the Village Head Chief Hyacinth Ekpenyong on behalf of his community have send a “Save our Soul” message to government Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on the need to come to their aid in order to ameliorate their suffering.

The community leader, Chief Ekpenyong made the passionate appeal in his SOS letter and sends to the governor, reasoned that Mbiakong Community can best be described as a troubled community and a war zone, with lots of violence at its peak which according to him recently culminated to wanton destruction of lives and properties worth millions of naira.

The village traced the crisis from 2002 when one Engr. J. B. Effiong alleged to have formed a cult group called “CABAL”, which led to series of breakdown of law and order, ritual killings, maiming, willful destruction of properties, kidnapping, stealing and unlawful encroachment and forfeiture of people’s land.
To this end, the Monarch said several people have been affected, few of whom are Effiong Okon Eyo, Okon Essien Eyo, Michael Eyo, Nyong Essien Etim among others, while murdering one Chief Ekpe Akpan and wife Mary on 10th July 2014.

The release further revealed that this same incidence continued till 2nd April 2017 when one Inem Bassey Etim was kidnapped and alleged to have been killed.

The people while in their letter consequently explained that this ugly trend has caused many residence of the community to flee in search of safety. They also stated that several attempts have also been made to draw the intervention of the security operatives but yielded low responds.

The release is jointly signed by the Village Chairman of the Village Chief Edwin Udobong who solicits the prompt respond from the State in order to return peace to the warring zone.
