Calabar Rotary Club Constructs Public convenience, School Borehole Worth N6.2M to LG

Rotary Hilltop, Calabar has constructed a Public Convenience and a borehole for Government schools Atu, worth N6.2m in Calabar South local government.  

The Projects, both sharing a fence was commissioned at the weekend by the Rotary Hilltop, Calabar.  

The President of the Club, Rotarian Nicholas Obun said the club decided to choose the location because it was a “den for criminals”.  

“We know that hygiene is paramour and sanitation is also paramour. Before now, if you come here, it was like a forest, all bad habits happened here and at times, nature could call and you find yourself wandering.  

“this location is centralized and behind is a populated Primary and secondary school that we also supplied boreholes to them. So ordinarily, we have achieved both provision for water and sanitation”.

While he urged the people to make good use of the projects, Obun said the public convenience project would officially be handed over to Calabar South local government area for maintenance.  

He advised, “ the joy of any  leader is to come  back and look at what you have put in place and it is sustain. My prayer is that we should be able to sustain it. In a special occasion, we will formally hand over this to calabar South after working out the sustainability arrangements and plans”. 

The Club District Governor, Rotarian Akabon Enebong also urged the beneficiaries of the projects to practice good maintenance culture.  

Enebong advised,  ” if you value this, maintain it. When we come back and see that this is well maintain by the community, we will be push to do more.
 
Head of local government administration, Calabar South, Rev. Christiana Elemi  and the Vice Principal of Government Primary and Secondary schools, Atu, Elder Okwa Edim,  in  different speech, thanked the club for providing important amenities for calabar South local government and promised to maintain and sustain the projects.
