Prof King berates PDP rule in Akwa Ibom

As the nation celebrates 18 years of unbroken democracy in the country and two years in office of President Muhammadu Buhari under All Progressives Congress (APC) national government, a chieftain of the party, Prof Richard King has decried the years of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in power, especially in Akwa Ibom State, as having lacked in the promotion of core democratic ideals and values.

Prof King speaking in Uyo, the state capital made the observation in his assessment of the gains of democracy over the period and scored the state ruling party very low in her contributions to helping the nation achieve the true ideals of democracy.

Arguing that the PDP would have offered Akwa Ibom people a good platform to realize her democratic dreams, the frontline APC figure said the embattled political party bungled the bright opportunity through its constant adoption of anti-democratic policies, including imposition, grandstanding, impunity and erosion of internal democracy which were allowed to dominate the operation of her internal affairs.

Enjoining people of the state to be eternally focused and steadfast in their growing support for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government, the former governorship aspirant has reassured Akwa Ibom people of APC’s increasing determination and a deep commitment to end PDP’s administrative dominance of the state by 2019.

He has accordingly urged the electorate to be quite prepared by always perceiving APC as the right party that would usher true democracy in all dimensions to meet the common good and development of the state and her residents.
