Government take-over Secondary School

Basking in the euphoria of recent take-over of the only Community Comprehensive Secondary School in Ekeya-Okobo, the Chiefs, people, principal of the school have described the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration “as very responsive, compassionate and education-friendly leader of our time”.

Arising from an enlarged meeting of Ekeya Council of Chiefs, the village head of the area, Chief Michael Bassey Anyin expressed excitement and enthusiasm over the gesture and magnanimity of the state government in announcing the cheery news and pleasant development.

According to Chief Anyin, the Ekeya community comprising the seven gazette and recognized villages having taxing their communities as well as levy themselves to sustain the growth and expansion of the school since its take-off in 1994.

Chief Anyin who maintained that the Akwa Ibom State Government take-over of the school will definitely go a long way to relieve the burden of running the institution through communal efforts however enjoined the state government to speedily absorb to teaching and non-teaching staff of the school with a view to streamline the activities of the institution alongside its contemporaries in Akwa Ibom State.

Also speaking, the principal of the school, Prince Alex Dennis Effiong expressed his delight over the decision of the State Government in taking over the institution and gave assurance that both the staff and students of Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Ekeya – Okobo will ever remain grateful and loyal to the Akwa Ibom State Government, the State Ministry of Education, the State Secondary Education Board as well as other relevant government agencies.

While extolling the tine attributes of the immediate past legislator representing Okobo State Constituency, Chief Effefiong Antigha in nurturing the school, Prince Alex Effiong recalled the numerous positive and commendable exploits of the school in different fora including external examinations, State and National education-based contests, sports and extra-curricular activities and expressed optimism that with the government’s excellent gesture in running the affairs of the institution, more laurels and rewarding feats would be recorded for posterity.

Present at the crucial meeting were other Village Heads in Ekeya group of villages including, Chief Gall Ibok, Chief Edet Etim Edet, Chief Andem Abidang Andem, Chief Joseph Okon Esuk, Chief Inyang Abikor Essien, Chief Efefiong Odiong, the Secretary of the Village Council, Elder Ukeh Ukeh Umoh as well as the media consultant, Chief Emmanuel Esifa who commended the people of Ekeya for keying into the Dakkada philosophy of Akwa Ibom State government.
