In furtherance to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly directive of 27th August, 2015 plenary session, the House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has invited complains from communities where there are abandoned NDDC projects in Akwa Ibom State.
The directive which was contained in a circular released by the Chairman, House Committee on NDDC, Hon. Monday Eyo, further stated that the memorandum should be accompanied with pictures and supporting documents where necessary, including names and addresses of the contractors handling such ongoing projects.
Furthermore, the circular also demanded that any contractor having reasons to complain about the contracts should likewise submit their memorandum to the committee.
According to the directives, those affected are to submit all submissions in not more than five pages to the chairman, committee on NDDC’s office in the State House of Assembly complex, Udoudoma Avenue, Uyo.
Hon. Monday Eyo who is also the member representing Uyo State Constituency is to embark on a state wide inspection tour to verify claims in order to take appropriate actions to push for NDDC’s attention on the situation when the committee complies it’s assessment report.
The circular which was signed by Mrs. Katherine L. Jerome; clerk of the House Committee on NDDC has been distributed to all local government transition committees and members of the House of Assembly to inform affected communities to submit their respective memorandum on or before 25th September, 2015.
It could be recalled that the federal government had directed NDDC to complete abandoned projects littered across the Niger Delta region instead of awarding new contractors by Management of the commission.
