Erosion menace has brought untold hardship to businesses in Uyo - Ette Ekpe

In what could be term as flood salvage to erosion menace in Uyo metropolis. The  State Government through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has evacuated refuge in the drainage system in Olusegun Obasanjo way former Abak road among other streets. Speaking in an interview with the Ink newspapers last weekend in Uyo, the managing Director Ette Ekpe and Sons Nigeria limited  Obong Sunday Ekpe stated that erosion menace has brought untold hardship to Businesses in Uyo metropolis and other parts of the State.

He added that the gutter should be slap to restrict the public from dumping wastes inside and it should evacuate the gutter every quarter so as to promote friendly environment for economic growth among the people and residential ambient.
Ette Ekpe expressed optimism that it will reduce floods. He added that since 2006 that the road was dualized  by Gitto construction company this is the third time that government has evacuated refuge from the gutter and they have been a constant flooding which  claimed properties to the tone of  fifty million naira.
He urged the people to show positive attitudes to government programs and initiative. And commended  Governor Udom  Emmanuel for taking urgent step to the challenges of the people.
The Independent Petroleum Marketer maintained that government should focus and make the State a business hub and investment bunk adding that Akwa Ibom at twenty-eight and Nigeria at fifty-five should a destination for the world in terms of business opportunities, tourism and economic prowess.
He stated that the State Government should revisit the drainage system such that water from Nkemba street, through Faith road, through Abak road, to Ikpa road ravin did not get to the destination. Adding that they is a narrow down the system which did not go through specification channels.
Ette Ekpe noted  that Enang Uko street, Itiam street, Okon Essien Street, Udo Eduok,  Okon Essien lane and to mentioned but few are out of use completely and therefore called on the State Ministry of Works to come to into their aid. 
The business mogul reiterated that the drainage system should be open wider for easy flow of water and the state government should contract the slapping of gutters in the state to prevent dumping of refuge and out break of epidemic.
He appealed that Governor Udom to establish a Petroleum Depot in Akwa Ibom adding that the plight of Independent Petroleum Marketers in the State is burdensome as they travelled to Lagos, Port Harcourt to get products for the State which they may not break even.
He also added that the present government should create employment opportunities for the youths as a strategy to stem down criminality and social vices.
