Nigeria Institute of Town Planners, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has inaugurated its 2015/2017 Executive Council Members.
Members of the newly inaugurated Executive Council of the Profession are; TPL. Akpabio Ufot-Akpabio, General Secretary, TPL. Edidiong Edoho Assistant Secretary, TPL. Jacob Atser, Financial Secretary, TPL. Nsikak John Udoibeh, Treasurer and TPL. Iniobong Akpan, Public Relations officer.
Others are; TPL. Dr. Peter Uyanga, Auditor, TPL. Nse Nwaowo EX-officio 1, TPL. Dr. Victor Umoren, Ex-officio 11 with TPL. Raymond Udo Nde as the Chairman of the body.
TPL. Nde commended the State Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel for the five (5) points policy thrust of his administration namely; industrialization, urban and rural development, job creation, improved power generation/distribution and agricultural development.
He said that his administration continuous transformation and infrastructural provision in the State are key elements in the Urban and Regional Planning profession and pledged the loyalty and total commitments of the body to his administration.
The Chairman also informed the State governor of the availability of qualified, registered and experienced Town Planners to assist in the physical planning and development of the State.
TPL. Nde pleaded with the Governor to assist in the development of the State legally by domesticating the Urban and Regional Planning Board and Local Planning Authorities in the State.
He seized the medium and appealed to appropriate authorities of University of Uyo, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden and Obio akpa, the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, the State Polytechnic Ikot Asurua, College of Education, Afaha Nsit, and Maritime Academy, Oron, to establish functional physical planning units in the various institutions.
He assured that his administration shall consolidate on the laid down foundation of his predecessors by completing the ongoing secretariat building of the Institute.
Other blueprints of his administration include; purchase of 18 seater bus for uyo chapter of the Institute, and appointment of TOPREC representative for Akwa Ibom State.
Earlier on, the immediate past Chairman of the body, TPL. Nse Nwaowo thanked God for seeing them through throughout their 2 years of rendering services to the Association.
TPL. Nwaowo thanked members of his Executive for the spirited efforts they put on and the entire members of the Association which was a major catalyst of the success story of the administration.
While congratulating the new executive members, he charged them to have the interest of the Association at heart during the delivery of their services to the body and charged members to give them their outmost support for a more purposeful and effective administration.
