The camp of the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate Obong Umana Okon Umana yesterday continued to gather more support base across the state as the Chapter Chairman of Accord Party in Etinan local Government and together with over 2000 members collapsed their structure in favour of APC and the party’s governorship candidate Obong Umana Umana. The Chapter Chairman of Accord Party in Etinan, Akanimo Akpan led other Accord members to APC’s Chapter secretariat along Eket road in Etinan to officially decamp to the party. In his speech before the new members were officially received into the party, Mr. Akpan said that he came with his Executives, ward leaders and Accord members across the local government to officially declare their support for Obong Umana Umana and join hands with the All Progressive Congress in the state to achieve their common goal.
He added that their decision to join the APC was informed by fact that they saw the need to join hands with the APC to sack PDP from power; he added that the APC is a party of great minds and sincere and honest people who are working to take the state to an enviable height.
In his remarks, Otuekong Sunny Jackson Udoh, the political leader of Etinan described Obong Okon Umana as a pillar of APC in Akwa Ibom who have come to salvage the state from the hands that is currently holding it captivity, he welcomed the new members into the party and promised that the party is large enough to accommodate all without bias and unjust treatment. He enjoined them to contribute their quota to the party and remain faithful to the party.
In their separate remarks the Etinan Chapter Chairman of APC, the Women Leader, Obong Uko Umoh, Captain Ntaidem, spoke glowingly of the new members and assured that the APC as a party is big enough to accommodate.
On her part, the woman of Accord Party and a former women leader of PDP Obonganwan Affiong aka mma Mbakara said that they have seen that APC was only party that reflects the collective interest of all people in the state and assured that they will work towards the success of the APC and contribute positively to the success of the party.
Mr. Sam Etukakpan, Evang. Israel John and Obong Ini Obot (a former PDP chapter Chairman) also spoke at the event and stated their readiness to work for success of Obong Umana Umana.
