Recently the urban community of Aka Offot, Uyo Local Government Area was held to a standstill, following the influx of quality personalities that thronged the area to witness a traditional marriage ceremony between former miss Thelma Peters of Aka Offot and Idongesit Godfrey of Ikot Ekpene respectively.
The epoch-making event which was graced by the cream de la cream of the society, including the honourable member representing Ukanafun State Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Hon. (Deacon) Otobong J. Akpan was, according to our reporter, ‘a good sight to behold’ ‘a scene to remember’ and ‘a festival of love and feast’ as the brand-new couple exchanged marital vows amidst pomp and champ.
Hon. Akpan, who also graced the occasion with his beautiful wife, admonished the couple to build their relationship with the flames of love, respect, understanding, tolerance and above all, the scriptural principles, adding that such virtues would act as strengths to their marital union.
The erudite lawmaker reiterated that the fear of God among married couple was the key to marital successes and charged them to therefore unequivocally submit themselves to each other as long as they live. He also wished the couple well.
Responding, via a chat with newsmen, the brand-new couple, Mr. /Mrs. Idongesit Godfrey expressed utmost joy and deep appreciation to God Almighty, their parents and the teeming guests for honouring them with their presence at the epochal occasion.
The elated couple however described themselves as “soul mates, confidants, heartthrobs, lovers, friends, siblings as well as husband and wife”.
Meanwhile, it is worthy of note that the wedding took place the following day at the Apostolic Church, Academy District, Calabar and followed by a grand reception at Etaval Hotel, Ibom Layout, Calabar, Cross Rivers State-Nigeria.
