Former council boss extols Gov. Udom

The immediate past chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Obong Godwin Ekpo has expressed satisfaction with the programmes and activities of the Governor Udom Emmanuel administration, describing his development efforts and initiatives as meaningful, monumental and sustainable.  Obong Ekpo specifically commended the pragmatism, commitment, courage and most importantly, prudence and transparency demonstrated by Governor Emmanuel, since assumption of office in May 2015, saying in addition to these abilities, he has proved to Akwa Ibom people that he is truly the best man for the job, and will not be distracted from consolidating on the extraordinary uncommon transformation of the previous administration.
The former council boss who is also a member, Board of Trustee of Transformation Initiative for the Empowerment of Ibom People (TIEIP) made the assertions while exchanging views with newsmen over the weekend in Uyo during the 28th anniversary celebrations of Akwa Ibom State. He observed that the entire PDP family in Ibiono Ibom as well as the entire state, are proud of Governor Udom Emmanuel, who collectively proved it right in electing him to succeed Chief Godswill Akpabio.

He noted that the PDP family has not been disappointed by the Governor’s actions and policies taken in course of his governance within his first 100 days in office.
Full of enthusiasm and confidence in Governor Emmanuel, Obong Godwin Ekpo, recalled that in just 100 days on seat, the governor has proved his critics wrong with massive achievements and further lauded the State Chief Executive, for “reawakening the spirit of togetherness amongst our people”, and the launching of Akwa Ibom “Dakkada” campaign, submitting that “this will help in the progress and development of the people of the state”.
He pointed out that Udom Emmanuel has taken impressive steps which have removed doubts from the eyes of cynics in the state about his sincerity and commitments to completely industrialize the state.
Some of the notable feats of the State Governor, which the former council boss listed were: resuscitation of Peacock paints in Etinan, awarding of contracts for construction of roads across various LGA’s in the state, payment of outstanding salaries to Primary School teachers, payment of outstanding gratuities to Pensioners, training of youth on Oracle Database administration, training of youth on film production as well as training of youth on power sector as well as restoring lost glory of St Luke’s Hospital in Anua, Uyo.
“It is gratifying that in just few days in the saddle, the Governor paid civil servants salaries and allowances and even cleared pensioners who were owed for almost a decade and as well as bringing some foreign and indigenous investors which are currently embarking on massive investment plans in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Ekpo”, emphasized.
The grassroots politician cum business tycoon also lauded the Governor for the recent ground breaking of the Automobile Assembly Plant at Itu Local Government Area as well as the planned urbanization of several roads in the State.
While urging the Governor not to relent on his development strides across the state, the Ibiono Ibom born-heavy-weight politician appealed to the people to reciprocate the concerns and determination of the Governor in making life better and safe in the state.
“On behalf of myself, my family and indeed the good people of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, I therefore, congratulate the Governor of Akwa Ibom, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on
his unprecedented feat so far in the last 100 days in office and reiterate our confidence in his administration.
“I urge him to remain focused and undeterred, because we are solidly behind him and will continue to give him our total support and cooperation”, the political guru noted.
