NBA to partner with NUJ to sanitize legal profession

Few days after the election and swearing in of   the new Executive of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Uyo branch, the Association has vowed to partner with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to sanitize the legal profession in Akwa Ibom State.

The Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Uyo branch, Barr. Aniekan Amos Akpan made this know on Monday when he led his Executive members to pay a courtesy call on the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Godswill Akpabio International Press Centre, Uyo.

Barr. Akpan said the visit was to create a synergy with members of the pen profession in order to build a better society. He said after his election, the new exco deemed it necessary to partner with professional bodies like the NUJ in the State.

Barr. Akkpan noted that the visit was also to familiarize with the NUJ as NBA in Uyo Local Government Area is looking forward to robust engagements with all professional bodies and that NUJ is considered as the association that will help the new exco to sanitize the system. According to him “We came to know members of the NUJ and also NUJ members to also know us so that we can put common issues that is brothering our professions together as well as find a solution to them. NBA in Uyo LGA is looking forward to partnering with the NUJ so that we can be able to sanitize the legal profession as well as the NUJ.”

He commended the NUJ State Chairman, Elder Patrick Albert for his achievements so far since assumption of office even as he promised to emulate Albert’s style of leadership of totally transform the legal profession in Uyo Local Government Area.  

Responding, the State Chairman of NUJ, Elder Patrick Albert thanked the new exco of NBA in Uyo for considering important to partner with NUJ. He assured NBA of co-operation of the union, saying NUJ will always be ready to partner with the legal body in order to build and move the State forward.
