BY MBETOBONG ESSIEN

A boy of 23 years was on Monday last week   nabbed by youths of Minya Ntak in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area for allegedly doing away with a sizeable quantity of palm oil and money belonging to one Akon Johnson, a widow from the area.

Information reaching our news desk has it that the boy, Ubong Eyo was caught red-handed by youths of the community and taken to the Village Head amidst pandemonium after being beaten and stripped naked.

On contact, the Police immediately arrived the scene and took away the accused as well as the widow to their station after some interrogations.

Speaking on the issue, the Village Head, Chief Ime Ekong noted that such occurrences were rampant in the community with nothing much being done about it; adding that the perpetrators break into people’s homes in their absence and cart away their belongings without being noticed.

Meanwhile, Ubong’s parents have denied knowledge of him after the incident.
It was gathered that the penalty for stealing in Minya Ntak community is death.
