Elections were free and fair in Ikot Ekpene – Etido Inyang
The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Special Duties, Engr. Etido Inyang has re-affirmed the position of the Peoples Democratic Party in the State that the April 11, 2015 Governorship elections were free and fair and that the people of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area voted peacefully and accepted the outcome of the results which declared Mr.Udom Emmanuel the winner.
Engr. Etido Inyang who last Thursday appeared as a witness for the party in the defence proceedings at the Governorship elections tribunal sitting at the Federal High Court, Abuja said that he was duly accredited at his unit along with his wife and also joined registered voters in his unit to cast their votes under a peaceful and calm atmosphere and that reports from other areas of the local government indicated that elections were held and it was well conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

‘’ I was duly accredited along with my wife about some few minutes to mid day of April 11, 2015 and we also voted when the process commenced and the whole exercise was transparent, peaceful and very credible’’ Engr. Etido Inyang told the tribunal.

He told news men outside the court premises that the elections in Akwa Ibom State was well accepted and that Gov. Udom Emmanuel’s victory was emphatic and overwhelming  as the electorate had made up their mind to identify and support his leadership that is geared towards charting a private sector driven economy for the state.

He further said that he was very optimistic that the Peoples Democratic Party will emerge victorious at the end of the proceedings at the tribunal as the evidence presented had clearly shown that the party indeed won the Governorship polls in Akwa Ibom State under a peaceful and credible exercise.
