AKSG to construct roads in Uruan

The Akwa Ibom State Government is set to award contract for the construction of the Anua-Mbak- Ishiet Beach market road. The Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang-eyen disclosed this to newsmen during an assessment tour of the roads which crosses 32 villages in central Uruan, Offot and Etoi clans all in Uruan and Uyo Local Governments respectively. According to Mr inyang-Eyen, the project is in tandem with the campaign pledges made by Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to the people of Uruan and is in furtherance of the bid to make life easier for the people.

The works Commissioner noted that, that Essiet road is of great economic importance to the people of the state and Government desires to open up the road to enhance economic and commercial activities at the beach market known for its vast supply of diverse sea foods to the entire Nigeria.
The Road when completed will have a spur at Mbak Etoi Junction on the left and will link to Idu the headquarters of Uruan Local Government Area , which will made the Road users who wish to access Nwaniba Road and by the right it will link road users to Oron road
Other roads also earmarked for construction in Uruan which Mr Inyangeyen regretted does not have good access roads are the Obong itam to Ibiaku Uruan extending to the long spur to Mbiaya Uruan, the Uyo city Polytechnic road which has a bridge, with the second phase of the construction to link Northern , central and Southern Uruan together.
He however warned host communities to desist from any acts that will undermine or slow down the progress of work when contractors get to site, harping that, the youths, village administration and stakeholders should all cooperate with government to bring about the desired speedy development to all parts of the state.
Commissioner Inyang-Eyen called for total support for the Udom led administration in his avowed commitment to taking development from the rural to the urban areas.
