Chairmanship aspirant consults family over ambition

As the local government elections draw nearer, a political bigwig in Onna local government area, Mr. Akaninyene Gibson Umana has promised to create sustainable job opportunities and eradicate the high rate of poverty in the local government if elected chairman. He made this known recently when he consulted with his family members to formally inform them of his intention to contest for the chairmanship position of the local government area when the time comes. 

Addressing the Nung Essien family in Ikot Edor, he said “this gathering today is to officially inform you as my family of ambition to contest for the office of the chairman of this local government whenever the date of election is announced”.
Mr. Umana intimated his family members that it is the love and desire to serve his community that has make him to accept the call by the people of Ikot Edor to contest for the number one position in the local government area.
Speaking further, the former youth president of Ikot Udo Inyang said he is motivated to contest because he wants to salvage his people from suffering.
His words: “when i look around, my people are suffering in abject poverty because there is no jobs for the unemployed graduates, no pipe borne water for the rural dwellers, no market stall for the women to stay and sell their goods and earn a living, that is why i say to myself why not answer the clarion call of serving your people.” 


Mr. Umana who has contributed so much in the development of his community, stressed that he will tackle the issues of development such as quality healthcare delivery, education, employment and security in the area.
Responding, the parent of the aspirant Mr./Mrs. Gibson Umana said they were happy that their son has accepted to serve the people of Onna as their chairman and advice him to keep to all the promises he will make during the campaign. They also advised him not abandon the local government and be operating from Uyo. 

Speaking on behalf of family, Elder Inam Edeminam, Chief David Daniel and Deaconess Roseline Inam Edeminam of Nung Essien Udo Inyang said they were happy that one of their sons has finally come out to contest for the chairmanship position of the area and advised the aspirant to provide jobs opportunity and to also transform the area when he eventually secure the peoples’ mandate. 

Also speaking Mr. Emmanuel Udo Ama, said the entire youths of the Ikot Edor and Onna as a whole are happy that a young man with ability and desire to deliver dividends of democracy to the people has finally accepted to occupy the number one position in the area and promise the supports of the youths.
